Apparently as I saw on the news, the locals are so enraged over the police shooting of a local black man, that they're taking their revenge by looting Carpet Right and JD Sports for rugs, trainers and new tracksuit bottoms
I even saw some of the local Hasidic Jews mixin' it with the rozzers .and laughing after being chased |

I think thats the first time I have seen Hasidic Jews in a UK riot scenario !! |

Initial info indicates;
Planned Police operation to apprehend gunman. On being approached by armed Police, said gunman produces a handgun and shoots an officer (fortunately saved by the bullet hitting his radio/body armour). Police shoot back and gunman is killed. Gunman is variously described by friends and relations as a lovely bloke who might be 'into stuff', but he's not aggressive,.. Perfectly good reason to loot and burn local shops and riot................

Let's go back to the real good ole days and read the Riot Act followed by CQB practice.

'not aggresseive...' Unless you are a police officer.. I think I'm right in saying that this is the first individual killed by police during the 10 years operation Trident has been running? I got in late last night and caught up on all of this.. I was going to post about it.. make some kind of objective observation about it and see what others though.. to be honest though, I was so angry by the time I read everything through, that I couldn't come up with anything objective to say, so I left it. Evidenced by the multitude of ethnicities in the videos, this is not about race-relations, integration or cultural cohesion ... It is simply the lawless behaviour of people of a bunch of people who don't feel they should have to respect or live by the rules of society - The same type of people that think Raoul Mote was a 'good bloke'. |

Well it seems the story coming out this morning is that the bullet found in the Police radio didn't come from the alleged gunman, but was in fact fired by another Police Officer

hmmm.. that's not good, though there's not a question over whether Mark Dugan had a handgun on him I think?
Further riots last night; red ken says that they are as a result of spending cuts . I'll be sure to let Mrs FCP know so she and her co-workers can go on the rampage today at the school for the disabled that they work at (which has had significant funding withdrawn)..a picture of a burning wheelchair or two will quickly get their funding restored

Coz I must have missed it on the news. Re: spending cuts, one witness on the news this morning said the first Police car went up in flames about 9.30pm and the carpet shop was set on fire after midnight. He said there were so few plod that they had withdrawn from the streets and were mainly concerned with protecting the local Police station, therefore leaving the rampaging hordes free for several hours to get on with it. He could just be a biased and bigoted local though |

Yes, I too heard one report of a pistol being recovered. But after that, no mention.
If no pistol was found and he was shot while unarmed etc etc, it will only get worse !!!! |

Quoted: Well it seems the story coming out this morning is that the bullet found in the Police radio didn't come from the alleged gunman, but was in fact fired by another Police Officer Oh very dear.................... That will complicate things a tad.. |
|
The report I saw said that a preliminary IPCC report had said that it was a 'police issue bullet' that hit the officers radio. Now wether that means another round has been fired and the rifling marks compared or just the fact that it's the same caliber they didn't say. He was apparently shot by an MP5 (which I'm assuming is a 9mm version) which was discharged twice. The police have asked for further tests to be carried out.
The IPCC did confirm that they had recovered a non police issue handgun from the scene but don't give any details about caliber. Various witness statements at the time clearly stated that they heard the police shout warnings at him twice before they heard any gunfire. |

Does the Met use a sooper-dooper extra rare ultra secret HP or bog standard Winchester Ranger? Or does the ballistics lab work on the Gertrude Stein principle: A hollow point is a hollow point is a hollow point...? Its not as if HP's are completely unavailable....

Soren Don't know what the Met use, but general plod issue is all soft point, not hollow point. Our current 9mm is Federal 95grn JSP, although oddly enough we train with 115grn FMJ.. .....or rather we used to. We don't train anymore, just a couple of times a year now (5 days each time). We are clearly so good, our skills don't deteriorate at all in the intervening six months.....................................oh wait,.
|
|
Magtech's 95 grain JSP is also a favorite of mine, flat trajetory though its not completely muzzle flash free. Our plod trains with either Fiocchi or MEN TMJ (Total metal jacket) "environmentally friendly" 125 grain but use the imho outdated RUAG Action3 on duty.

I'm not keen on the symbolism We shouldn't let anyone make this about race, religion or ethnicity. It should be seen for what it is - a bunch of people who think the law doesn't apply to them and are prepared to take advantage of an opportunity to behave badly. |

The race or colours of the attackers aren't really relevant; the message would work with any other group there. I picked on a Rourke's Drift image simply because that was the date given in the original message. Thinking about it, a bit of 'shop work on the image to put some masked hoodies there from recent riots instead might soften the blow for the thin-skinned. |

Hackney and Lewisham now Do we still use baton rounds? This is what I was thinking I dont know of any occasion when they have ever been used on th mainland. I know over in N Ireland, where they are used to these kind of disturbances, the police and army have never been shy when it comes to dishing out a few baton rounds, cs gas and bringing a water canon or two into play. I'd like to see them do this to show that everyone is equal and fill the canons with purple or ultraviolet dye to pick the fuckers up later. |

The lateat version of events is that the police have never said they were fired at but the rozzer who did the shootin' feared for his life from the presence of the gun they found.
They also say that only 2 shots were fired, the second of which killed him buy the first either missed or went through him and was the one that hit the other officer in the radio. As for the rioting, it's not too far from me, anarchy reins.....sounds like tonights a good night for "all night shotgun cleaning" |
|
I'm told that use of any effective means of riot control is frowned upon. I'm sure the majority of police would be happy to deploy a watercannon with all sorts of added extra goodness, but a desk jockey with an eye to their media profile and all loved up with the Home Office will say "no".

When the student riots were going on last year the Met were asked why they didn't use water cannon to disperse people. The answer was they didn't want the police to be seen using it on people as it would not present a good image for the police We're being ruled by the politically correct morons! These so called rioters (just fucking idiots is more apt) have broken the law hit them with water cannon they will soon piss off when they are cold and wet! |

There's pictures on Sky news now of some idiots setting fire to a car in Hackney, I swear to god for a minute it looked like one of them had a Bradley Arms Hoodie on. The logo looked very similar!

The bloke that was shot wasn't carrying a cap gun by all accounts - and it's sounds like he was challenged; as long as that's true, then I don't have a problem with it. If you carry a gun, then the police have to assume that you are prepared to use it. If you don't want to get shot by the law; don't give them cause to.
Mark - As it seems that our political masters have neither the brains nor balls to break out the water cannon; can't you get the one from your work? It did a job on the last fuckwit that got in front of it... |
