What worked last time:
Rimfire only. Sunday (1 DAY shoot only). Family oriented, (perfect for kids or otherwise new shooters). No booze or mustard bottle fights. I'm looking for suggestions on; Where? When? Lunch? (it's somebody elses turn this time) Help? (targets? new ideas? etc) This is an option for those of you who like the idea of LCR, but are uncomfortable with the actual LCR. This really is meant for families, so the adult activities are kept in check. (might not be quite clean enough for your pastor, since there's bound to be some light profanity, or lord forbid, chewing tobacco. But my guess is that your grandmother would be plenty comfortable). Please throw out your opinions and/or suggestions for the next rimfire shoot. |
I got sick before the last one, but will make the next one. Looked like a lot of fun from the pic's.
ETA: The Pe Ell range if available. |
I'll be there with my ever growing supply of cheap 22lr tactical carbines....
This time I'll have something with a good scope that I can actually reach out there with. (instead of just having an Eotech) Count me in for any location and any time. -Jason |

Is the previous location out of the question? Looks like some nice digs for this type of event.
What about a fundraiser type thing? Money raised could go to a worthy cause (or even upkeep/repairs @ the range we use). If it was for a good cause we might even get some sponsorship from instate industry...? Just saying.... |
Seems as if the last one went really well and was well recived. I just hope the next one is not on a weekend that I'm not working...
ETA: I have a rimfire now, so I might be able to go!! Just don't do it in July or November, because I will be out of state. |
Had a great time at the last one... I'd be very interested in another one!
I'm not saying I'm going to volunteer for food duties, but I'd be happy to contribute. |
I would do again but woudl hope the drive would be a tad less for us northenders,,,
Though I would be all in to carpool to help with gas. And since it is only one day... |
depending on when, i might be in. hopefully will have my spike's based rifle done soon, and have a 1911 in 22 too. but lots going on with summer and projects and a wife at 32 weeks... :D
ill be there again i had a blast last time. it was well worth the 2+ hour drive for me
We have a nice multipurpose range at the Capitol City R&P Club.
Nearby there's a clubhouse with a kitchen. However, for this many people we would have to bring in our own grill(s). I could bring this up at the next board meeting on July 11. How much money can we dangle in front of them? |
I think Mommity and I would love to do it again. Maybe even carpool with 2 more people. 3 if they're skinny. Gotta be a Sunday. Only day I'm available. The Pe Ell range wuz da bomb. But, I sure would whine if we end up with something closer. After 15+ years, I dropped my membership to Tacoma Sportsmen's Club, so I can't offer that venue. Maybe we could find a pit or something like that, maybe south/east Pierce or Thurston Co.
I don't have a grill to bring, but I'd be willing to bring 50 or so franks (and some $$)where ever we end up. |
That would be a much more central and fair location for most participants. Any fees should be set forth by the club IMO. If you don't mind, please ask them what they need to make something like this work, and then everyone can decide if they're interested or not. (Some clubs see this as an opportunity, and others see it as a favor. Being fair is my primary interest) |

Oh crap, I completely forgot.
ETA: I'll call the club president next week. |
I'm anxious to hear the reply. |
me to. |
oh, I'm in on this again! ... G&R Tactical called me yesterday to let me know that they finally filled my GSG-5 order, so they should have it at my FFL by the middle or end of next week … I hope!
Yes!!
It was too much fun Saturday or Sunday is fine with me. DMA The guy in the shorts |
Working on getting some solid information. I have a feeling that this will have be put on the agenda for the next board meeting. |

Just got a hold of the club president.
Apparently there is an application procedure during which various board members running the facilities are supposed to review and approve. I will have more information once I get the application form which includes the fee schedule. |
Not out of the question at all, that I know of. But a few had wished, and mentioned, interest in it being held more local to them last time. Proper manners and all... Thanks FishKepr. |
Edit: honestly, I just want to go shoot. & a .22 shoot this summer would be outstanding! I don't care where or how much. |
Right on. If we can pull it off, with or a without a little help, ...win/win. Thanks for checking in to it. I hope that either way we find out some good news from another club. If not, The Pe Ell Sportmans Club made a fine host for us last time, and we left on good terms I'm told. (you fookers are cooking this time ) |
I was originally told the the fee schedule would be with the application. It was not.
Had a chat with the person responsible for the CCRPC multipurpose range this evening. Apparently for an event like this we need to supply our own NRA certified range safety officer. Is there an RSO in the house? I asked about fees. He's not sure, but said that matches at the multipurpose ranges typically run about $5 per person. I've shot matches at the high-power range which usually run more than that. |
No cat herders (RSOs) available?
BTW, the application also specifies that all food handling at official events at CCRPC must be done by certified food handlers. Too much red tape for WA ARFCOM? |
No certified ones I guess. I only know one, and I'm not inviting that prick anywhere. I'd say that is probably too much red tape, at least for me to deal with at the organization level. (I'd be fine attending if someone else dealt with it) Thanks for checking in to it for us. So, anyone else have any great ideas for getting a rimfire shoot off the ground at a more central location for the guys up north? |
North, Smorth, the south will rise again! |
Just tryin' to be fair and democratic boss. Bump for a last ditch effort to get you sorry yankee saps to quit scratchin' your bag for two seconds, and plan something in your own neck of the woods. If not, we'll have to either do something unofficial, like just meet up at the LCR pit, or organize a repeat of last time... with different cooks or sack lunches. |
LCR works.. It's a good hour plus for the Clark Co. boys, but about an hour for Seattle people... Probably won't work for the far north enders, but oh well! LCR pit or the range as before works for me! What about a Pot luck? Everyone bring a favorite dish... If there is enough food, awesome, if not awesome! |
I'll be there wherever it is. That said, I was the first poll vote, and I voted for Pe Ell cause the facilities were perfect for what we do-- so since the vote is 100% in favor of Pe Ell, you can close the poll now.
(See me grinning? It's a joke, son, a jo-- oh, never mind--) |
We think alike |
Indeed we do! |
Well, the vote makes it looks like we'll have a smaller turn out next time.
After a week or so, my schedule should begin to free up a little. After that, I'll look in to our ability to us the Pe Ell Sportsmans Club again, and we'll plan from there. |
Has it been a whole week already? I'll get to it soon. Things are starting to lighten up. Keep in mind that just about any one of you are welcome to come down here on any weekend and we'll go shooting. I'm usually already going or thinking about going anyhow. Holler anytime. |
ETA: moved to IM; more appropriate. |
Pe Ell is awesome but a haul, I spent more in gas than in ammo
easy fix, just shoot more next time |
I'm an NRA CRSO When is it? |
