Here is the response letter I got from my letter to my rep (Louie Gohmert) asking him to do his darndest to top HR1022:

Dear Mr. SmallChange,

Thank you for contacting me regarding gun rights. I appreciate the benefit of your views on this issue. I oppose additional gun control and feel that current gun laws should be enforced so that firearms are kept out of the hands of criminals.

The Constitution's Second Amendment means what it says: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Whether one uses a firearm for hunting, sport shooting, personal protection, or another lawful reason, the Second Amendment clearly protects our individual right to keep and bear arms. I will work to support the rights of gun owners who use firearms responsibly while working to punish those who break the law.

Once again, thank you for contacting my office. I appreciate having the opportunity to serve you in the United States House of Representatives.

With kindest regards, I am

Very Truly Yours,

Hon. Louie Gohmert

I think this is the exact same letter I got when I wrote asking to oppose any legislation to extend the last ban. Either way its no surprise, I'm preaching to the choir.

The ones who really need to be flooded with calls and letters are the reps who are likely to support it. If you live in one of those districts pick up the phone. Heck, you can even shave, brush your teeth, iron a shirt, and stop by the reps local office.

My US Rep is also opposed to any new anti-firearm(actually anti-civil rights) legislation. Is there a list of fence sitters and ones that support that legislation? I think we should communicate with them even if they do not represent our district. I'd get nervous if a bunch of outsiders started supporting my challenger both in the media and finacially.

I think my reps get tired of hearing from me, seeing as we agree on our politics. (Lubbock may suck sometimes, but we have good state & national reps)

what a load of shit. that can easily be interpreted to saying " I see that you right now have a lawful right to assault weapons and currently use them responsibly, but if a ban is passed then you are a criminal and should be locked up. I know I said I oppose more gun laws, but this is actually a law from the past coming back, so go fuck yourself." but then again I am in a rather foul mood right now and it's getting the better of me.

So could any statement, if you have a warped mind. The best way to see character is to look at a politicians past voting record.
