I received an email reply from Rep. Wamp concerning his position on the AWB.  I have pasted it below for your reference.

Dear xxxxxxx:

One of the rights specifically protected in our bill of rights, second
only to the freedom of speech is that "...the right of the people to keep
and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The Constitution is clear about
this.

I have joined many Members of Congress in writing to President Bush urging
him to oppose reauthorization of the Clinton-Feinstein-Schumer ban on
certain semi-automatic weapons.
Guns do not commit crimes, people do. Since its inception, statistics
have shown that the semi-automatic ban has proven useless in preventing
violent crimes. This is another illustration of why we need more crime
control, not more gun control.

I will support and vote for legislation that protects your right to bear
arms.
