Yes, it's practical. But the gunsmith who does the job should also be a capable machinist, one that has a good lathe and knows how to use it. Just in case the barrel isn't threaded. It will have to be threaded for most muzzle devices. It is possible that the barrel IS threaded, and if the fake FS was screwed on, it would be legal (per the expired ban) if it were welded on with a few tack welds.
Fulton should know for sure if the barrel has threads on it or not. Check with them. If it does, the job's a little easier. CJ |

Well i checked with Fulton and the faux FS is only pinned on so should be fairly easy to get off. Howver the barrel is NOT threaded and will need to be. Will this become one big PIA and would i be better off just purchasing a new barrel, or is there a good gsmith/machinist who can do the job ??

Once the FH is off, any competent machinist (with a lathe, of course) should be able to thread the muzzle end quite easily.
The correct threading is 1/2-28TPI, and the length of the threading is about 9/16ths of an inch. CJ |

Far cheaper to thread a barrel and get a birdcage than to dump a perfectly good barrel and start anew. Regards, Gary |
