I'm considering applying for a job that would involve my relocation to Hawaii. I've never been there, don't know much other than hearing the COL is high there.

What would be involved in bringing over firearms? Is it better to ship a vehicle over or buy locally?

Any other info is appreciated.

Thanks!

What it is like varies on where in the islands you will be.  Things from Kona won't translate to somewhere on molokai for example.  Cost of living is slightly higher than alaska, but is a usual thing as everything has to be shipped in.  Milk is 4-5 a gallon, same as gas, etc.

Firearms you can fly in with, but have to be registered with the local police within 72 hours.  As a haole, don't even think about a right to self defense.  I mean that literally.  Jump out a window in your house and go if it comes to it.

Shipping a truck is expensive, but still cheaper then the islands, so I'd go that way personally.  The in laws did it with all their toys.

Gotta head out to work though...

moving firearms to and fro is the same as any other state, only thing is you must register them when you arrive.
shipping a car is about $1500 plus a permit for out of state car sticker. id buy it locally. blue book value is the same where ever you look.

Pistol mags are limited to 10rds, so leave your standard capacity pistol mags in Texas.  AR/AK mags are a gray area.
