I went out to Clark Brothers to site in my M1A , mostly because its close, benches are available and its 100 yards. Now I don't mind buying their ammo there since really thats how they are paying for the "free" range. I don't even mind the markup on ammo (usally 10-20%) since thats paying for the range.

BUT ...... $11 for a box of 20 surplus 7.62mm NATO !!! thats a frigging 340% markup !!

I'm not going back for a long time.

I usually find their "deals" on calibers I need, buy it and bring in my own rifle ammo.  The last time I shot my .308 there I had a .270, I bought about 10 boxes of their Hornady Light Mag .270 and shot my mil-surp 7.62x51 out of the .308.

As if they ever check.....

don't forget the targets you are forced to buy---even if you bring your own.  I bought some Black Hills .223 from Clarks last time(to test fire a AR-15 on the range) and 15% of them were bad--

I shoot 75 Gr BH out of my M4 (which they wont carry), so I just bought 2 boxes of their overly priced ammo and kept the empty boxes....you can figure out the rest.

It would be a whole lot easier to rant if there were an alternative wouldn't it?
