Hi!  I have a question for those that live in the Ft. Myers area.  My mom has about 20 acres on Pine Island, and was wondering if it is legal ot shoot on private property?  I asked theneighbor, and he says he shoots wild boar.  I just wanted to chime in here and see if anyone else has heard different.  Thanks!!!

As long as the bullet doesn't leave your property you should be good to go.

Just make sure you have a sufficient backstop (a bunch of trees doesn't qualify).

It is illegal to discharge a firearm in Lee county unless it is a licensed range or hunting preserve. Now if anyone reports gunshots in that area is another thing. Check with her neighbors and see if they mind. I'm sure in that rual area they will not. Just remember it is against the law and you are responsible  for that bullet until it stops.

I would definatly ask the neighbors, if the neighborhood is spread out you'll be cool, just ask the neighbors. For the most part even if they do mind, the fact that you asked they'll be more likely to be ok about it.

Cool.  I asked the guy next door and he say he shoot all the time.  As far as the back stop goes, I was going to construct a mound with two walls of concrete cinder blocks filled with cement.  And on top of that probably ~100 yards of dirt.  Is this adequate?  If not, any info on construction would be great!!!
