Sure man, come on up to Boulder, you can shoot all of the prarie dogs you want here!

Just kidding man, don't come shoot them in Boulder.  For some reason, prarie dogs are on the endangered species list in Boulder

Blacktailed pds are protected in eastern CO and can only be shot on private land for 'pest control' purposes. So you will have to find a landowner who will let you on. With few exceptions any place close to the metro area will either be all shot up or not accessible....plan on driving a couple hundred miles from Denver.

Reminds me of a funny story.

My Uncle owns a ranch in Northeast Colorado near the Nebraska State line.   He says every couple months or so a van drives up a country road near his ranch and stops.  The back doors open and out come dozens of prarie dogs.  One guess where they come from.   Yup.   Boulder.

He says he gets a lot of target practice in the following days.     True story.
