We're Back!    After a few months off we are pleased to announce our next Practical Rifle match is schedule for Saturday January 29th.  Please register at the following link....  Practical Rifle Sign Up Link

Remember, we go rain, snow or shine.  Please be at the range ready to go by no later than 8:30 am.  As always, three mags and 150 rounds of ammo, eye and ear protection and a chamber flag.  We also strongly suggest a sling.  Fee is $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members.

See you at the Big Bore Range!

Gary

1/28/2011 UPDATE

Folks,

As Boomer has mentioned, the match is still on.  That said, the range is under a significant snow blanket.  I am trying to have the access road and lower lot plowed but I can not guarantee it will be done by Saturday morning.  If you have a non-4 wheel drive vehicle, you might want to park in the main lot an hump your gear to the lower range or at least walk down to see if your vehicle can make it down the range road.  Remember, all rifles must be in their cases from your car to the range.  Also, please dress for conditions.  With this amount of snow, expect to get both you and your rifle wet.  I suggest you consider bringing an old tarp as there will be prone shooting at this match.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Regards,
Gary

The first two fields on the sign up page read "Your First Name".

I heard rumors that this might be a Boomer Bravo style match  any truth to that???

See ya on the 29th.

I don't know who started that rumor...

We'll probably run the Boomer-Bravo match in the next month or two.

Given the weather, I'm picturing something like the third level in Inception ...hopefully Tim saw that movie.

It wouldn't be a Practical Rifle match if we didn't have to deal with the weather right??

My feet are still cold.

I certainly know what I have to work on... the longer distance shots really screwed up my final score.  It's kind of disappointing after getting a max score on the shorter distances.

Gary - thank you for putting together a great CoF.  I really liked the standing-kneeling-standing.
Everyone - thank you for helping us have another successful, and safe, match.  Everyone leaving happy is why we do this.

I hope everyone paid attention to how they did today because the Boomer-Bravo is coming and there are a lot of different shooting positions from various ranges... strong side, support side, standing, kneeling, squating, prone, urban prone, SBU prone...

Gary and Tim,
Thank you both for putting on a safe fun shoot. I had a great time wallowing around in the snow, got my cardio in for the day, and still made it home before the wife missed me much. Judging from the smiles of the group, it looks like everyone had a good time.

Sorry Craig for helping out with your target at the 200 while kneeling

JJ

Sure you can, but it'll just slow you down.

No problem Linus; I'll take all the help I can get.  I can't count on Tim to do it every time!

I'm glad we got the match in.  Way to adapt, improvise and overcome Gary and Tim!

By the way, now that the club site is back up, the Practical Rifle page needs to be updated;  It has us starting at 10:00.
