So now that the summer heat and Tonto fire restrictions are upon us, where the hell do you guys go shooting in the summer? The obvious spots are indoor clubs like SGC, but I really prefer going outside. Are the places up north you all like to go? I am in the valley, but spend most weekends in Sedona. As far as I know all the forest around Sedona is protected and shooting is banned. What about a little farther north? I'm not so familiar with the high country.

Any advice would be appreciated. My guns are way too clean.

You can rent time at Cowtown Range in Peoria (IM me for more info) at just about anytime of the day, otherwise you're out on public land. Good luck getting the HTF crew to divulge those locations, though - too many people here have been burned in the past.

I just go to private land that isn't posted no trespassing.  It takes a bit to find them but it's good to get out and explore Arizona anyway.

You need the ability to read maps and also to know where you are on the map at any given time.  That's extremely easy with today's technology.  All you need is a smart phone.

Habimap is your friend.

It's important to remember that the private land that isn't posted WILL get posted no trespassing if the place starts getting junked up with crap or improvements start getting shot to pieces (or a fire gets started).  The roads are few and signs are cheap.  Tread lightly.

And there's this... secret places remain secret. Lest all the assholes bring trash and ruin the place. Nothing worse than seeing refrigerators and glass and shit everywhere.

BLM has fire restrictions as do most of the counties but it looks like you can shoot on BLM stuff at the moment.

Thanks for the notice. Good to hear, not only from a shooting standpoint but also a fire danger standpoint.
