So on May 1 at 12:30am I put in my application online for pistol purchase permits. On their site, they told me two weeks is a normal wait time. At 9:09am THE SAME DAY, I get the text and email saying that the permits have been approved and are ready for pick up. While it sucks I need these (just got my 30-day residency that day, plus, you know, Constitution), I can't be mad at it. Just an update for anyone wondering!

When I first moved to Greenville NC in the early '90s, the sheriff set up a table at the local gun shows to issue permits on the spot. I was surprised with the wait in Wake county when I moved, but got my CHP shortly after so I didn't have to worry about it any more.
