The next Performance Carbine class is scheduled for April 8th & 9th at the South River Gun Club in Conyers, Georgia. Here is some quick information concerning the class.
Performance Carbine Class
This is a new twist on the traditional rifle class. It will blend IPSC 3-gun rifle speed shooting techniques with the practical and tactical use of the M-4 carbine. The goal of this class is to significantly increase the ability of the student to minimize threat engagement times and maximize your critical hit potential. Emphasis will be on Close Quarter Battle (CQB) techniques. Engagement distances will vary from contact distance to 50 yards. This is not an introductory rifle class. This is an advanced level class. Students will be expected to have their rifles zeroed and all ancillary equipment setup and ready to go. If you have doubts about your qualifications for the class, please contact me and we’ll discuss your situation. Some of the topics covered are:
- CQB Philosophy
- Proper, real world mindset
- Legal issues and concerns
- Discussions of various CQB rifle configurations and accessories
- Optics
- Back-up Iron Sights (BUIS)
- Reloading techniques (Emergency, Tactical)
- Proper CQB weapon mounts
- Sling selection
- Various hand held and rifle mounted lights
- Speed shooting techniques
- Confined space shooting techniques
- Transitions to second and third level weapons
- Failure Drills (Threat and Optic)
- Low-light target engagement
- Low level weapon retention techniques
Several other important topics will be covered. This will be a two-day school lasting 10-12 hours per day. Approximate round count for the class will be 1200 rifle and 300 pistol. Cost is $325 plus $25 dollar range fee. Class size is limited so please register early. If you have any other questions or would like to register for the class, PM me and I will get you a class announcement and a registration form, which contains all of the class information and requirements. Thanks for your interest and I look forward to seeing some of you in the class.
Thanks,
VSP
*UPDATE
Guys, I wanted to bring you up to speed on some new developements. This will most likely be the last class I offer. This is not for a lack of interest. The class has done very well and I would like to thank all of you who have supported the class. I recently accepted a position as an adjunct instructor at a new training facility currently under construction. The facility is called the United States Shooting Academy (USSA) and is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The facility will be state of the art and is intended to directly compete against Blackwater, Gunsite, and Thunder Ranch. You can check out the website at usshootingacademy.com My personal information should be in the next website update. Consequently, I will not be able to offer my services separate from the USSA, although any classes scheduled prior to my arrangement with USSA will still be honored. If you've been thinking about coming out for this class, this will be your last opportunity. USSA will do export classes and discussions are underway to offer this particular class in the course curriculum, but nothing is definitive. I hope to see some of you guys at this "last" class.
Good shooting,
VSP
