I have no cans for you!!!! It's my money,  not your's..sell fucking cookies instead of beg for cash. I don't care about your trip to London, horse ride across the USA or new swim suits..Besides how the fuck do I even know your not scamming everybody on the block???

is this a can drive or just people walking up to the house? I don't mind a can drive but I would never give to unsolicited begging

Township Police, High School Football, Softball, Baseball, PTA, Churches, etc. The only thing I really contribute to is Boy and Girl Scout organizations. If they sell cookies, popcorn etc I will buy it. If they are doing a canned food drive for the local food bank and are in uniform I will donate to it. I had one neighbor that wanted me to buy a Christmas Wreath to send there kid to Hawaii for a traveling marching band trip...I bought one but said have your son call me to set up a delivery time...the wreath was quite large.....three weeks latter I watch the Father pull in my driveway, pull out the wreath and lean it on my garage doors. Before he has a chance to get back in his truck and drive away I go out and say " Where is your son..he was supposed to call me about the delivery and come with you to deliver it" his reply ...oh he's home watching TV or somthing. I just told him to take me off the Wreath list for next year.

Believe it or not, some people consider it  a pia to take cans back.  (I'm included)

I had some cheerleaders get about $20 off me this way a few years ago.

On the other hand, my son and a bunch of other kids have been dong this to raise money for ther homecoming float.

Last weekend they made $400.

around here they do not even go door to door and beg for them. They put a flier in your mailbox that says they will be back next week, please bag the returnables up and set them on your porch. BS your not getting my cans if that is the way you do it.

NO ONE (except scouts) gets anything but a bad attitude in return for disturbing the peace of my sanctuary.
9 out of 10 times I'm sleeping on the futon when they bang on the door.

I give cans to the local school kids or boyscouts when they come asking for them. I usually have quite a few so they make out pretty good. Put up a big "no soliciting" sign if its that big of a problem, or dont answer your door. The "adults" trying to sell me something pisses me off, but I don't mind helping my local kids out.

Granted I never went on any "exotic" trips but in scouts we did a can drive to go to the Toronto science center and appreciated the generosity of my neighbors back then.

Now I'd rather that they did it that way, they aren't disturbing me and I hate taking the damn cans back.   I usually throw them away.

I have to have at least $100 bucks in cans sitting in my garage.

I wish the dang stores would give me cash but Meijers wont you have to use em when you go shopping.
Well I do not wanna put a couple hundred cans through their machine and then have to deal with shopping.

After dealing with all those nasty cans I wanna take my money and go home and shower!!!

Busch's gives me cash and so does Meijer...need to research the law, but I believe they have to refund your money..

I think they can limit how much at a time though and usually Meijers is $20 a time in cash refund.

How much have you been able to get returned at once?

I just return the cans to Meijer once a week when I go shopping. This way you don't lug shopping carts full of cans to the bottle return.

My brother doesn't reurn them.  Instead, he drops them off in my garage in a big plastic trash bin .  My niece calls and says they're doing a can drive for cheerleading.  When I ask what day she plans to sort through them, she says it's my job to sort through them and bag them!  I tell her if that's the case, I'll cash them in myself.   The bin had $60 of cans in it.
