Hey, I'm taking the boy down to the Naval Aviation Museum next week, and wanted y'alls opinion on a decent place to stay.

There are a bazillion hotels in the area, but I'm sure one of the locals can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

The Crown Plaza located in downtown Pensacola is my recommendation if you want to stay in town. There is a Courtyard Pensacola Downtown that is probably okay, never stayed there.

The Hampton Inn or Hilton if you want to stay at the beach. Margaritaville is now open, looks like an okay place, but I think Buffet is an ass, so I won't stay there.

Looks nice. I should have mentioned reasonably cheap. But I know, cheap and decent usually don't go together.

There may be some good rates on the beach.

The Best Western Blue Angel Inn is nice.  It's a new property, and the rates are reasonable.

Stayed there a month or so ago.

Not really, they are doing things like "30hr stay" and what not, but they really haven't lowered their rates.

I paid less than $100 for a single About 2 weeks ago at the red roof inn at 297 and I-10.  The beds are hard as a rock.   Holiday inn same intersection last night144.91 for a double.  What day are where you planning on being around.  As there might be a chance I'll be in one of the hotels.  Just got back from the museum about an hour ago killing time.  If you stay over at the hwy297 and I-10 intersection BBQ restaurant called Sonny's cost about as much as fast food, but it's better quality.  I'll see what the country inn rates are when I check in tonight.

Country inn and holiday have indoor pools and red roof has an outdoor.  Hope this helps out.

Country inn was a little under a hundred for a double.

i work right down the street from there.About one mile north of  the interstate. Be careful about leaving anything of value in your car there. That area can be kinda rough at night.Lotta crackheads running around in the wee hours of the night.

If you guys are interested in staying at the beach, the days inn on the gulf side usually has doubles for about 139.00 a night.Pretty nice rooms, has a pool. The wife and i stayed there about a month ago.Rates may even be better now. Beach is in great shape as of this past Sunday.

+1 on crackheads. Sonny's sucks. Famous Daves is a little better. OP, if it is an option, NAS billeting would probably be most economical.

Thanks for the heads up on the crack heads.  I'll let the crews that are staying at the comfort inn know.  We are working on some kind of wet land thing for the paper mill.  To the south of the interstate near some closed boat launch.  At least that's what I'm told is at the end of the road.

If one absolutely MUST stay at a hotel located off of I-10, I would strongly suggest you get one of the hotels around I-10/Pine Forrest Road. The Holiday Inn Express is good, I don't know about the rest.

I wouldn't stay at any of the hotels located @ I-10/Davis Hwy (in fact, I wouldn't even stop for gas, the SD is trying their best, but they need to napalm that area)... I wouldn't be big on I-10/hwy29 either.
