He was hit by a ND from a 30-06 at 15 yards.

By the grace of God, and with the help of some really good trauma surgeons, I survived that awful day. Remarkably, I even kept both of my legs – although it was a touch-and-go thing for several weeks. Today, I am learning to walk again, although it is unlikely I will ever be able to do so without the aid of a cane or crutches

I don't know. I found a link to it on Glock Talk and thought that it was worth sharing.

That sure sounds like him. It was quite the story last year on a number of boards. I never heard the end result. Glad the guy is doing okay.

Play with guns long enough you'll have a ND. It's your choice in following the four rules that determines the outcome.

Unfortunatly this guy was just a bystander in the wings who got a 30-06 slug through the legs.

And the guy who shot him disregarded 3 of the 4 rules... loaded gun, pointed at person, finger on trigger. How fucking needless this accident was.

The four rules are designed to allow any ONE of them to be unintentionally disregarded without loss of life, limb, or property. Not 3.

I got hit in the neck a few years ago at the Silencer shoot. Was sitting next to a tent. Smacked me good but did not break the skin. Thought it was a bee sting at first. Thank god it was spent. Some dumbass was shooting a MP5 across the range at a metal target. Flashed to my dad taking a through and through the neck on Iwo. Felt very lucky. You just never know when someone will mess up.

If this is the incident in question,  you don't want pics.

The pics taken of the aftermath were bad enough. Lots'a blood, surprising (and relieving) that the guy is doing okay now. Could've easily been much, much worse.

The impact of a 30.06 at close range is life altering at a minimum.  That round does not play.
