They are neat to watch if you are bored.  I see several on most days.  I'm on the opposite coast of Florida.

It looks like Cape Coral has taken an active role in increasing the population.  They even have a local Owl Festival.

Conservation fact:  "Collision with cars is a major source of mortality. Human activities have increased the species' range in Florida."  (I think they mean putting those little perches up in areas the owls frequent - unless I'm mistaken and the owls build them on their own  )

Side Note - they are the FAU mascot.

They are cool to watch. That one is across the street from my Sister in Laws'.

On this trip I saw there was a new burrow at the end of their road. I find it

amazing that the neighborhood dogs and cats do not mess with them.
