What loopholes does Kali make us jump through to get a Garand from CMP?

The fact that the CMP FedExes a rifle right to your door is all the more reason to buy through them.

Yes, I am planning to buy an M1 Garand.

I was planning on joining GCA.  Is there any reason why I should join CRPA instead?

They're California based and have a good monthly newsletter on what's what in CA.

Join both!

Thanks, I'll join CRPA instead.

+1, this is one federal program California doesn't mess with. I've had both an M1 Garand and one of those M1903MkI's they found a few years ago shipped to my door here in California. Might I suggest the CRPA as your club?

Are you getting an M1 Garand?

Besides joining CRPA, did you shoot in a match through CRPA?  I thought that was a requirement?

CRPA doesn't host qualification matches.

Look around and find a match in your area.  In SoCal, Armory of Orange hosts a monthly qualification match at Lytle Creek.

Don't forget, A CCW from any state or a DD214 also qualifies you for purchase instead of the shooting requirement.

September -> C&R License -> 8 a year

I've never been in a match, and don't really plan on doing any soon. I am pretty sure you can also have a range master just fill out a paper, that you must download from the CMP, when you shoot and it is the same as being in a match.
