I want a couple Dark Earth XD45s.... Dunno Why, mostly for something different. They are out there, so why the hell not???
Then again I am certain there is a group of folks that believe they HAVE to have the latest Dark earth or OD because of it's superior performance in low light situations. The enemy has Gen III NVGs and the BLACK Guns stand out like streetlights... ETA: Mostly though it's FUN, remember FUN? It's why spend SOOO much damn money on firearms NONE of us NEED. Plain old fun! Hell I am looking to have a nickel plate or maybe Electro-less Nickel AR built with some hardwood furniture. WHY? Cause I think it would be entertaining. |

Everybody has night vision, these days, good guys, bad guys, neighbors, paper boy.... Why be the brightest target in the scope? |

For me it's just the color.... green has always been my favorite. (green house, green pickup, etc...) Being able to get my toys in that shade is just more icing on the cake. I can't help it if everyone is copying me.

Now see... THAT is an answer! I was wondering if people just liked it or if it was army wannabe hype. To each their own, I don't judge because some like it and I don't. I was just wondering... Speaking of colorful guns. Who has the Pink AR? Did you paint it yourself or buy them that way? My showed my g/f and she wants one in Purple. |

Gotta paint them now. Cav Arms did a batch in all colors, but they are sold out. Duracoat them, it's good stuff. |

Black is cool. I just got tired of it and decided to bust out the Krylon and do a camo pattern. To me it looks cool, and is a bit different than the norm.
And if for whatever reason you actually need to be hiding in the woods, it doesn't stick out as much as solid black. |

I used Rustoleum indoor/outdoor paint. Then a coat of clear. If I were to do it all over again, I would have first done a flat white as a primer first. I ended up having to put a LOT of coats on and it's kinda thick.
