Went to Broken Bow for some trout fishing. Fished all day Saturday on Little Mt RIver behind the old damn with fly rods and caught 8 total with the largest brown beign 15", five inches of being a keeper. Also fished behind the spillway of Broken Bow lake for little browns and ended up catching about 10 small ones on fly gear.

The only thing better than fishing for trout in Oklahoma is doing it in New Mexico! I've done it in the Illinois, Roman Nose, but never in the Blue River. I guess New Mexico ruined me for trout fishing here in Oklahoma.  It isn't unusual to catch our limit in a few hours with all the rainbows being over 15. Biggest brown I caught was 21", largest rainbow over 24".  Trout taste really good to me, better than catfish or bass. The only fish I like better is walleye!

Trout ! MMMMM !!
Been along time since I was trout fishing,
I used to live in Up-state NY around Lake George
and ALL the streams up there have trout.
And the biggest lake trout I got was 26" and weighed
almost 22lbs!!!!and that's a small one !!
But all the browns and rainbows used to go up stream in Stoney Creek
in the spring and get bunched up at the falls!
They actualy have a game law that you can't fish them durring the spawn,
BUT you can NET them!!!That's fun with a scooper net on a 15' pole!!
you can take 10 a day anything over 18".

Eclipseter, how dare you post about how many fish you caught! That was supposed to be me who had the biggest tale!
When if comes to fishing and sex, the first liar never stands a chance!
But talking about stripers, they used to be pretty thick below the Tenkiller Damn in the Illiinois River. My son and I when he was younger used to catch them with lead heads and shad bodies when they were letting water out of the damn. Catching a 5 lb striper in the fast moving water below the damn is something that is a blast and not easily forgettable.
But if we all start telling fish stories, it'll get so deep around here in BS, our eyeballs will turn brown.
11 lbs and 17 lbs? Why hell, that ain't nothing but bait fish! LMAO

It's up to you believe it or not.

anyways. I went to texoma last night, I think I got there around 11:45PM and stayed there until 6:30AM.

victims:

1 catfish.. around 3lbs  ( I don't know what kind but it was a whiteish one)
4 Trippers 3lbs - 5lbs

One question for you fisherman.

Fishie I caught at WAURIKA looked so much difference then Fishie at TEXOMA..  Texoma's sandbass are thin and long ...... Fishie at waurika are kinda fat and round... are they sandbass?

What the hell are you doing on my lake without getting permission.
"It takes me 10 minutes to hook on to the boat at the house and have it tied to the dock at burns run."
BTW the sTripers have ruined the sandbass in texoma.  But if you know where to go you can occasionally catch football sandbass.

I'll be on texoma all weekend much needed fishing and err maybee drink a beer.

This thread is supposed to be about TROUT!
But if we want to talk about fish, anybody here noodle? Hell, anybody can catch fish with a rod and reel (or dynamite!) but it takes a real man to noodle for BIG fish!

J, looks like the Okie Noodler Festival in Pauls Valley. Took my wife last year! She didn't enjoy it too much - said she didn't fit in because she was wearing a bra, didn't have any tattoos, or have a beer in her hand!
Some of the boys I know up in Crescent have gotten some pretty big catfish out of the Skeleton and Cimarron. The boy that owns the bait shop just north of the Cimarron on 74 is one of them!
Looks like some nice catfish!
