After the AWB sunsets, can we Californians, get assault weapons as stated by CALIFORNIA law? A buddy has just bought a SPAS 12 and he's just waiting for the ban to sunset before he has it shipped to him. I'm not sure if this is legal or not.

Thanks for the help,

california bans the sale and transfer of such.

That weapon doesn't need to be registered like an AR. Are you sure?

The CA ban is in addition to the Fed one and bans specific weapons (believe SPAS is on the bad list). Most CA gun shops carry the entire regs unabridged for $2 - go pick em up.

SPAS12 was banned in 1989 AW ban, if you had one then you had to register it.
you could NOT register it in 2000.

the federal AWB sunset does not affect kali law, your buddy can not have this gun shipped to him in this state, he is SOL.

Negative, John.

The only effect of the expiration of the federal AWB will be expanded configuration options for registered AWs that we already own.

Thanks, gentlemen. He's not gonna be too happy to hear this.

Also...make sure his SPAS has the updated safety lever.....otherwise, AD may occur.

How much did he pay for it?
