It was a rescue of a stranded hiker, near Mary Jane Falls on Mt. Charleston. Sometime after the aerial lift of the hiker, the officer fell.

Thoughts and prayers for the family and co-workers.

The news sites are pretty thin on details...like what was wrong with the hiker that they needed a rescue. They mentioned being above MJ Falls but there aren't any designated trails up there that I'm aware of.

My condolences to the family of an officer who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The only way i can really figure to get up there is going from trail canyon and scrambling over slightly less than sheer cliffs or just scrambling right up the cliffs somewhere.

hate to hear of any losses like that

I knew Dave back in the 90's before he went into the academy.
