I am looking to get a head count for those interested in shooting this match. It is on Sunday Oct 27th.
It will be $40 per 2 man team, with 4, possibly 5 stages. now 7 stages.
Round count will be under 30 rifle/ 50 handgun for sniper, and under 80 rifle for the support.
This is open to club members first, and registration will be open at the monthly meeting Oct 3rd. After the meeting, anyone can sign up.
At this time it is limited to 18 teams.
Please post in here if you would like to shoot this match, I will update this post with names on a first come basis.
Thanks.
Update: we are now going to have 7 stages for this match. Max distance will be @300m, but it will not be as easy as you might think. We have some really challenging setups for you to shoot, and precision will be stressed more than distance.
We have limited this to 18 teams due to the stage count. I will email those below if spots are available after the meeting on the 3rd, and I can accept a PayPal payment for the match fee to secure your spot. Only the prepaid teams will be guaranteed a spot.
We will also have plaques for the first and second place teams.

Interested parties:
Oldsarge66
Ohiolongrange
Bigohio
(Second update) Emails have been sent to above parties. As of now we are full up with the above teams included.

Depends on which part of the team you will be. For sniper, you will need a bolt rifle or accurate semi platform capable of precision shooting. Sniper will also be shooting some pistol usually. For spotter/ support, you will need a semi auto rifle. binos are a good idea, possibly a spotting scope if you choose.

May have to see if my buddy wants to team up with me. I have the rifle and pistol just need a spotter.

What kind of shooting for the spotter do you guys have planned?
Link Posted: 9/13/2013 8:18:18 AM EST
The spotter will be tasked with close targets, and possibly some slight distance.

Most likely under 150m. Still haven't gotten all the stages 100% worked out.

Police, not military; so The Revolutionary and Civil Wars are excluded. As of a few years ago, the longest was 88 yards.

With the "militarization" of the countries police force, that may not be the longest anymore.

PD's dont do distance due to lawsuits, and there guys not being that great....
Link Posted: 9/16/2013 4:18:58 PM EST
The average police sniper shot in the US is about 53 yards. There was a shooting of a van on the mall in Washington DC in the 80s with distances over 400 yards, but that was not considered a true sniper shooting. As of a few years ago, the longest was 187 yards on a moving hostage taker by a PA state trooper. The shortest was inside a building on another moving hostage taker, using another cop for support by a cop in MD, approximately 5 yards. I attended presentations by both snipers.

Should stand as listed in the op. Easier to go home with extra than not have enough.

" 80 rifle for the support. "

will this be shot like a 3 gun? with run and gun, or all prone, or mix?

since support is under 200, do u know what the closest shots are?

There will be a mix of static and moving shooting for both sniper and support. Closest shots for support will be at close quarters distances.

fun match, i was slumming it with my AR, let my buddy be sniper..
i played spotter wit this..

was doing great till the last stage, when i ran out of FMJ and used 52gr SMK... the SMK's were exploding mid air about 15y in front of the gun and all the hit the paper was some jacket pieces :(

ill be emailing serria about that...

Yeah, the bullets coming apart was wierd. I haven't seen that since I tried to push 40gr noslers past 4000 fps. you are most likely right in the twist being too fast.

The match was good overall. I had a good time and was squaded with some great guys and very good shooters.
Link Posted: 10/28/2013 2:15:07 AM EST
I think you were running just a bit to fast for the gun, and the projectiles couldn't keep up. Sierra needs to step up their game. Free projectiles coming your way?
LOL

Nice to see you guys.

Bigohio.

Yeah, it was good to meet up with some arf brothers.
It sucks that @ the bullets, but it made some cool laser beam contrails. Lol!

Thanks for getting a pic of me with a weird look on my face for all of arfdom to see, deep in thought and all that.
