After the "Lightning Express" from Chicago, I hope to never see that on any plane I'm on
For those that don't know, Matt, Bob and myself were on a plane from Chicago to London 5 years ago.
As we took off from O'Hare in a thunderstorm, we were climbing through cloud at about 3000ft..........well we were looking out the window at the wing.....when it got struck by lightning.
F**k me but it was only 20ft away and we both muttered "Jesus".
There was an almighty crack of static in the cabin and all the lights went off until the emergency lighting came on.
About 1 hr later, we had to turn back over Lake Michigan because the Autopilot had blown up.
Don't want to go through that again thanks very much
