Controversial Muslim cleric caught being smuggled into U.S. over Mexico border
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Last updated at 1:04 PM on 28th January 2011

U.S. border guards got a surprise when they searched a Mexican BMW and found a hardline Muslim cleric - banned from France and Canada - curled up in the boot.

Said Jaziri, who called for the death of a Danish cartoonist that drew pictures of the prophet Mohammed, was being smuggled into California when he was arrested, along with his driver Kenneth Robert Lawler.

Sheriffs Babeu and Estrada: Iranian book discovered in desert is ‘disturbing'

Reporter: Claire Doan

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) – A strange and alarming discovery in the desert near Casa Grande: A U.S. Border Patrol agent found a weathered book titled "In Memory of our Martyrs" on Tuesday along a route notorious for human and drug smuggling.

The book, published in Iran but written in English, features short biographies of Islamic militants and suicide bombers.

The Department of Homeland Security released a statement saying they have no credible information on terrorist groups operating along the southwest border.

How fucking stupid do they think we are?  Seriously?

Have you seen who's occupying the White House lately?  Seems we've given them every reason to believe we're pretty damn stupid.

Isn't that the truth.

I was surprised beyond belief when I read these news articles!  Note that there has been no mention of these events  in the mainstream media!  What I found especially interesting is that this guy was looking for a safe place to live inside the United States.  A safe place?  Huaa..like where, Las Vegas, or maybe Reno?

To me what is even more scary is this story just goes to prove that our borders are NOT secure and we have no real idea as to whom is in this country!  I admire and support the Border Patrol and ICE 100-percent; but, was this arrest the result of skill or luck?  And of course the political spin of the usual do not worry, its nothing, so what, we have everything under control, is just more direct BS!  What do these people think we are, a bunch of yahoos?

We need to think about this news articles and its implications very, very, carefully!  These are very dangerous times we live in!

And safe from what exactly? Safe for who?  Very disturbing to say the least.

The generally accepted figure is what? 20,000,000 illegals here?  That's the number bandied about. We're just assuming they're all migrant strawberry farmers eh?  As to the rest of it, yes, please just keep watching American Idol.  We'll wake you when something needs your attention.

It's downright fucking scary what's going on around us.

Not that this particular guy necessarily was a terrorist, despite calling for the death of the Danish cartoonist who drew pics of mo'mud.... But I think this illustrates well the need to have the mindset that securing our borders is not just an economic and political necessity but also a national security one.  Islamic terrorists ARE going to try to get into the US and cause us harm.  The southern border is not just where strawberry pickers come across to work. If smugglers can move drugs, guns and people so easily across the border - its not a stretch that they can move terrorists, weapons and bombs across as well.

The sad part is it's going to take a serious event with considerable loss of life to really get us to take the border security seriously - like 9/11 took for us to take terrorism and air travel seriously. It's gong to happen, mark my words. I pray I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

See, still another story of what is going on around us – yet no alarm from the general media.  Just a man arrested with the intent of causing harm and chaos!  Just a local so what news item!

Again, nothing to see here, please just move along!

I don't disagree with your general mindset here.  I definitely share your concern.... But M-80s and other fireworks???  I don't think I'd quite put that in the same threat category as PETN or a fertilizer bomb in a U-haul.

I agree with you also.  The point I am trying to make here is that we seem to have a growing number of persons present in this country that are motivated; for whatever reasons, to attempt such acts.  Recall in the last several months like incidents in Portland, Oregon, Baltimore, Maryland, and other locations.  There are people out there that are willing at attempt such terror incidents and but for their lack of access to the proper materials and good police work, would be successful.  Hats off and three cheers to the rank and file law enforcement!

These incidents prove that we do have terrorists among our mist!

Substitute illegal aliens and illicit drugs for trained terrorists (like the two incidents we are discussing show are crossing the US – Mexico boarder) and weapons; you have big time trouble!

I can't argue with that.  One thought DID occur to me though when I was pondering this.....  The fact that the cleric was smuggled by some white guy in a BMW leads me to believe it at least wasn't a cartel thing. Had it been, he would have gotten safely across and been here already. It further occurs to me that perhaps the cartels might shy away from smuggling terrorists and bombs over the border. Would think it would be VERY BAD FOR BUSINESS if some rag head with a suicide vest blew himself up in a crowded mall in middle America or blew up and Amtrack train and the rag head got traced back to the cartel smuggling him across.  For one, the border would be sealed as tight as a nun overnight after the Marines from Pendleton and the 3rd and 4th ID deploy to the border.  Not to mention the CIA preds that would start whacking cartel leaders deep inside Mexico. I just think the cartels would have the sense that the money they would get from Islamic terrorists would pale compared to the money they would lose from an all out war the US would wage against the cartel for something like that.

But that's not to say that there won't be some smaller operations or private smugglers that will continue to try to get the fuck heads across the border.
