I finally gave up on sleep. It's been going off every hour since 4am.

...and you're surprised by this?

I haven't seen much other than a thunderstorm here is St. Johns county for the past 5 days.  Looking at the forecast, I don't expect much worse than this.  Watching the news you would think this was a full fledged hurricane.

Power has been out since 8:30.  And the wind is barely blowing.





It's a good test of my new Yamaha 2000 Genny though.  Man this thing is awesome!

 

Power went out for about an hour at work today in Orlando.

Not because of the storm, though. Someone took down a power line with their car.

We had a few tornadoes touch down earlier in the area.  Nothing to serious thank goodness, a few pool screens and trees taken down, no reports of injuries.

Someone really needs to invent a weather radio that lets you pick only the alerts you care about. I lived up on a hill when I lived in Missouri and we were always worried about tornadoes. I had a weather radio in the bedroom for tornadoes, but it'd constantly go off for flash floods or thunderstorms. We ended up just shutting it off and figuring that a tornado would wake us up if it came, hopefully with enough time to get to the basement.



Alternatively, there are some websites now that will text message you customized alerts. We ended up using that for the last few years before we moved to Florida and that worked well.
