I'll be in Corolla for a week on vacation. The couple we are going with would like to go out to a nice place to eat one night. Can someone recommend a place? We are looking for nice but not black tie but something nicer the Joe's crab shack. Any links to websites of such places would be great.

It's not in Corolla, but I really enjoy the Breakwater in Hatteras.

GET THE FISH TACOS!!!!

ETA: Nevermind. Double checked the distance and it's probably too far away unless you were going to Hatteras for some reason.

+1 suagr creek. great views. Also in Duck there is a relatively large place called (i think) Sunset Cafe that looks out over the sound. The Black Pelican in Hatteras is also nice, and in an old life-saving station.
