Tell the wife to get off the bandwagon, the fair weather fan that she is! The game was pretty awesome and the Bengals sure did help out today.

LOL she doesn't know anyting at all about the game, but she is game to try anything at least once and is genuinely excited to be going to a game that means something.  Wait till I bring her along to one of the shoots, ......  mmmmm  maybe, maybe not,  gotta think about that one.  Looking forward to Sunday the 29th already!

Sunday the 29th is possible. I was going to shoot slug guns for the upcoming Long Island January deer season, but I could always sight the gun in on the deer. They are always running at high speed so I just shoot at brown like I always do. Or I could sight in at Brookhaven after skeet. So 0900 hours or what? MIKE.

Ray, I am bring my son, and a friend so we might need two fields tomorrow. My brother is also coming, but he is coming late and will jump in for the last round with his son. After we are going to the rifle range to shoot slugs. See you at 0900, MIKE.

I'm bringing one, maybe two cousins, looks like we'll have a good group of people!

I'm also bringing a rifle or two if anyone else wants to shoot afterwards.

Greg, I just got your message from Jen, where is this taking place? If is not a Calverton I am going to need directions.

Long Island Range:
Take the L.I.E. to exit 68, William Floyd Highway. North on William Floyd to RT25, Middle Country Road. East on Rt25 for one mile or less. The range is on the left or north side of the road. You have to buy tickets from the officer before going down to the skeet fields.

Now you have no excuse not to go!  If you need ammo, let me know, I'm going to Walmart before I head to the range.

Greg, thanks for the offer, I will bring my shotgun, I don't know if I will use it but it'll be with me, what's the deal with rifles, are we bringing them also?

My loser cousins chose a night of drinking over a day of clay shooting, those bastards!

Looks like I'm going solo once again.

I'm glad we'll see you there Frank!

What a nice day we had, it was a little coooold, but it was fun to see you guys. I need a shotgun for the next "get together", so I am asking for your help with suggestions, so far I think I want a semi-automatic one.

Ray, I went to the rifle range and sighted in my slug guns. When I got back to the skeet field at about 11:30 I could not find you guys. We had 7 people and would not have been on the same field anyway. We shot 3 rounds and called it a day, a litte cool as the day went on.

Did you guy shoot skeet or just trap?

Sorry we could not shoot together but we are gathering too many people. Next time we should plan to shoot in the afternoon and avoid the morning rush.

I would like to plan a Calverton clay shoot next, a little easier to get everyone together and more time to bullshit. Getting a large group on to a skeet field together is very hard to manage especially since Suffolk closed and Brookhaven is the only game in town. MIKE.

we wound up doing 4 or 5 rounds of Trap and then Wave, balzac and bear headed to tyhe rifle range while I went ot edwards to find that thrower (which they didnt have).  I found it online and ordered it today so hopefully next time we go we can take over the shotgun pit with 3 throwers (yours, mine, and green18's)

Hop, That sounds good. I have two throwers and my brother has one. All we need is shotshells and targets from Walmart. I have several kids who want to shoot and skeet is hard on them. MIKE.

Fun, but not exciting.  You never really got surprised in trap as most went to the same general area straight out with the occasional one going way off to one side.  Also the lack of talking made it more "serious".
I just got an email about my order and the only item that is in stock is my box of 155gr amax.  I have to wait till the 13th for my thrower and pouch to come in.

Had fun but its tough to shoot trap with skeet loads!   If we take over the whole pit at Calverton next time we can set throwers up at each corner and in the middle and have some real fun with different angles and maybe have a little friendly competition.  Keep a weather eye out and lets see when is good for all.

Huh? Newbie time. There's a difference?

Newbie, schmewbie...The only reason to load a 12 ga. is with "up close and personal" tactical loads: OOO buck, flechettes, tear gas (only because they don't sell nerve gas rounds), bolo, thermite...you know, the GOOD stuff. The rest of this shit is for people that drink wine spritzers...<running like a raped ape to evade an enraged Mike103>

Yes Virginia there is a difference.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!  Actually for skeet the idea is to have more shot in the air at close range and a better spread since most targets are engaged at close range with some even coming at you, whereas in trap all targets like perps are running away from you and have a 16 yard head start so the idea is to use a tighter choke and larger shot so it patterns tighter and has more energy when it gets to the perp, er I mean bird.

I still want to be able to load up 3 rounds and shoot til I hit!  Screw 20, I want 25!

I gotta concur with Hoplite, trap wasn't as exciting as skeet, but its worth a try.  Maybe next time we can roll our own as Green suggested.

Still a lot of fun and ya gotta love the post game hooters run!
