January 24, 2006 - ISRA Executive Director Richard Pearson reports:
The phone calls are coming in on HB2414. That is good. We need to keep calling. Only the House of Representatives is in session this week. Call House members in Springfield on Wednesday and Thursday. Call Senators at their district offices. We must keep up the pressure.
Today we discovered a new bill HB4132. This bill would ban all military style replicas. This is really a lousy bill. An AR15 could be construed as a replica as well as a 1911. So could an 1863 Civil War musket, and what about those Brown Bess Revolutionary muskets--they are nasty. This bill, if passed, would be far reaching. The reenactors would be wiped out. Be prepared to begin calling on this next week.
Remember when you call be nice and be clear. Please forward this to all bulletin boards.

ISRA Lobby Day will be here before you know it--plan to attend in Springfield on March 15, 2006. We'll meet at 1:00 pm in the cafeteria in the Stratton Building before visiting our legislators, and there will be a reception from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. More details and updates will be available on our web calendar.

Remember, the ISRA has lists of the phone numbers of all Illinois Representatives and Senators. If you're not sure who your legislators are this session, you can look them up on-line. Please visit the ISRA web site at www.isra.org to learn more about issues important to the state’s gun owners.
These guys won't let up at all. Keep the callls and e-mails going to Springfield folks!
