I work security and do a lot of walking and ive gone thru about 4 pairs of boots per year in every year for the past 3 years...

I need something that will lost and or can be resoled with ease.

Any suggestions? size 13-14EE is needed so it limits.

If you get danners, do not cheap out and buy the ones made by chinamen. The soles on those are soft and will wear out most riki-tic.

Yeah, I really, really liked my Danner Pronghorns. Was very disappointed to find out that they couldn't be 'recrafted' once the soles went smooth.

The pair (not Pronghorns) that I picked up last week during their F&F sale can be recrafted.

Good Luck finding an OEM vintage pair in that size....

The Danner idea is the best one...even IF you get the Unionized Chinese version, make contact with an ARFCOMMER over at Lewis...Once the wear thin, re-soling a pair will run around $75 IIRC, but well worth it. Get the Vibram ripple soles.

ETA...I guess midgitidget already figured this one out...."Yeah, I really, really liked my Danner Pronghorns. Was very disappointed to find out that they couldn't be 'recrafted' once the soles went smooth. "

+1 for Danner.

I also love my Bates, and had good luck with Belleville(not the issued ones however).

Maybe he's Philipino. I"ve never seen such a bunch of foot dragging fuckers. Ever. 'Course, I never seen a Philipino that needed such a big boot either.

Danners...even though you missed the sale, if you are going through 4 pairs of boots a year...Bite the bullet and buy something that willl last and can be resoled...

Just picked up some Super Rain Forests and they are fucking amazing...Now go buy something made in the US...

Something doesn't smell right...

While you are in the Danner store (you gotta go there to get the full experience), count how many folks come in with virtually new shoes that have problems.  Listen to the counter guys pass it off as 'normal wear and tear.  We don't warrant normal wear and tear'.  It is an enlightening experience.

You don't want to hear this and you didn't ask for my thought on this, but...

Loose weight. I don't say this to insult you. Seriously. Loose 20 or 40 lbs or as much as you can. Change your diet. Stretch as often as possible.

It will help how you walk, run or march more than any kind of boot would.

There are several "logger style" boots that you can find at Danner or Wistle Stop Work Wear and other shops that deal in good boots that should be within spec for your job.

They're heavier leather, Strong laces, have awesome soles and will through years of hard use before you need to re-sole them.

I have a pair of Danner "Logger" combat boots that I used just for marching while in the Army. They lastest through Ranger School, Airborne, EIB, Manchu, 2 deployments, over 100 road marches and I still wear them from time to time. They have well over 400 miles on them just from ruck marching and have yet to be re-soled. They will run you well over $300 but, once you break them in, they are worth every penny.

And STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM OAKLEY BOOTS!!!

Huh, the SHORTEST a pair of boots ever lasted me was the shitty jungle's they issue in boot camp, those get tore up by all the  drill, and they still lasted a year.
Do the boots you buy have hard soles, or are they like the "Tactical boots" that have super soft soles?  I could see those getting ate up fast.
I wear Altima Jungle (or desert) boots pretty much every day.  I take the insoles out and wear thickish wool hiking socks.  Worth a shot I suppose, worst comes to worst you burn through them also and  know another pair not to get.

i know i said i wasn't going to be quantico's shilling mouthpiece, but he needs 'em and they got 'em. there's a pair of danners here that've been sitting on a shelf for a long freaking time cuz no one wears that size.
danner desert tfx rough out hot in size 14EE  item number is 26014
and another set, same thing, in size 14.

they have a tag on them that says $139.95 but they never move so i'm sure the manager would come down drastically on the price to get rid of them. just ask to see the boots and ask for kevin.

45Colt - The perimiter of the building that Ive been working on is close to .4 miles long x 12 walks around it per shift. Once every 30-45 minutes, takes me about 10 minutes.. So the in between rest helps me a little, but I requested this type of site because of my weight.

DrewXD -  Before I started working for the security company I weighed almost
550lbs, over the 2.6 years ive downed close to 100lbs and have
drastically changed my eating habbits. Ive  been losing around 20-30 lbs a year or more. I also go out 2 extra days a week and try to get in at least a mile of walking each day. Hell ive gone from a 62 waist to a 52 waist.

blindfox - Unless they are black I cant wear them :(

They are comparable to Whites.  Not cheap, but worth every penny IMHO. They are an investment.

I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

Go down to Portland to the Danner outlet if you can. Sometimes they have 2nds at a fraction of MSRP. Those big boats should be in stock longer than more common sizes, like 11, too.

Because I have been wearing Jungles (and deserts) for over 10 years, I like them and they hold up.

Have you ever requested a variance from the company regulation due to the sheer size of your clodhoppers?

If you were to state that tan boots were the only thing availible to you at a reasonable cost...???

If you don't like the answer your immediate supervisor gives you, tell him that you are going to call HR and ask, and that you wanted him to try for you first.

unfortunately its a company wide rule and there is no ability to change it or get any kind of pass. Shit i even asked about logos and they said keep them small or marker them black...

i always dig talking to you guys when you come to my shop. i get tired of answering the same questions to newbs (I always do cuz we all gotta start somewhere). and i'd have chatted with you longer and pulled out some cooler shit but there was another guy who needed some help. sigh    duty calls.

Danners are great IF they fit your feet.  I can't wear them because the last they use (the basic form the boot is fitted around) does not work for me at all.  My feet are probably a bit odd shaped.

They have different lasts for different models and also offer a stretching service.

I have been wearing Bates for 6 yrs. When i was instructing at Front Sight, I wouild be on my feet for 15-18 bhrs and never had problems. I have sent back 3 pairs for warranty and they have sent me a new set every time. Currently I have 2 sets in std black lace up, 1 set in Desert tan lace up with side zip, and 1 set black with side zip. I do have a set of Danners that were given to me at SHOT show 2 yrs ago to try out(since i was an instructor) and ther are great too, I just like the way the Bates soften up and "wear in" quick. I wear them 10-12 hrs a day now and they are confortable!!! JMHO. I have had others, but not as good as Bates and Danner.
