Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Need some help from NY city people

I am planning on going to a show at the jacob javitz center in March. I have never been to NY city. Can you guy give me an idea where the center is in relation to the well known landmarks? Also any good hotel around that area?

The Javits Center is on the far west side in the 30's.  Any of the hotels around Penn Station or Times Square will be a short taxi ride to the Javits Center (or about a 10-20 minute walk).

Staying in Times Square can be a fair amount of fun and is also a good cental location to get on the subway to other points of interest.
