I'd like to go ahead and get some Cat6 run for cameras. I have one of those houses where I really don't know how they can do it without running it mostly surface mount. Its 4 sides brick, basement mostly finished, and much of the house doesn't have accessible attic space near the place I'd want to put the camera.

I really just want all the wire run back to my office and down the road I will start tinkering with cameras/POE/NVRs and determine what I want. IP cameras are dropping in price/increasing is resolution so fast I expect that most people will be upgrading cameras every year or two anyways.

Anybody here run / fish wire for a side job?

Wireless camera technology has come a long way also.  You would only need local power. That simplifies the install

Wireless can jam the bandwidth pretty quickly, and you can also  have  a issue with  interference.

Where in Georgia are you ?

And there are a lot of tricks of the trade to route the wires in a existing structure.

Go with Power over Ethernet (PoE) cameras to simplify things. You'll need a PoE switch which can be bought pretty cheap.

I don't know what your time frame is, but I am relocating down to the Sharpsburg area in two weeks, and I will be setting up shop in the area. I am in the security industry and install cameras, alarms, access controls and fire alarms.

Depending on how busy we are in the next few weeks, we might be able to do it.
