Hope I'll be pardoned for making an incursion across the Potomac once again.  This time this is purely a Virginia situation

I happened to be in a school in NoVA this weekend where the teacher's classroom that I was in was plastered with every lying piece of disinformation that the Brady Campaign and Ceasefire had ever printed.

I mean blatant lies.

This was in a public school government classroom.  I looked around for the teacher's name in the room and could find no indication and I didn't want to move anything around to do so.

I pulled up the school's webpage and tried doing Google searches of the government teachers' names referenced with Ceasefire and Brady but came up with nothing.

There is a huge problem when a public school teacher uses the bully pulpit of their position to enforce their political activism on a captive audience of young people.  It is compounded when it is obvious that the teacher is not concerned with even the appearance of balance or truth.

One would have to wonder what other lies and distortions this teacher is presenting in their government classroom to further their political agenda.

Is there anyone her who is familiar with any of the anti organizations in VA and who some of their minions are?  I would love to be able to connect this teacher to an organization and point out to his employers that he is using his classroom to further his political activities.

what school were you at?  and what class was the person teaching?  and do you by chance remember the room number?  also a basic physical description would help.  i ask such things because there were probably ~250 teachers and other faculty at lake braddock when i was there.  now multiply that by the huge number of high schools in the area.

Specifically it was TC Williams HS room 14 C.  It was definitely a government class as there were tons of political bumper stickers everywhere as well as  VA General Assembly stuff.

I live five miles from TC Williams HS; let me know if you think of something to do. Maybe pictures, calls to principal etc.

That was the pdf that I was trying to cross reference against "Brady" and "Ceasefire" in my Google search.  No luck.....

I was hoping that someone in the know WRT Virginia anti gunners would be able to spot a familiar name.  it seems that here in MD whenever we get a letter to the editor, one of our guys is able to call them out as being a member of Ceasefire MD or the Violence Policy Center.

Damned shame that they can get away with this.  If I were to talk pro-gun stuff to my students I'd be fired on the spot.

Thats the bad thing about our children and schools. The teachers push their beliefs on the kids and the kids think its cool because the teacher told them so. I can remember several things that my daughter has told me that her teacher told the class on a daily bassis that were so wrong it was sad. And then they go to collage. wow i think half of the collage teachers have agendas and try to pass them on to there students instead of teaching them by the book. for instance my oldest daughters boy friend goes to uva and he tells me some unbelieveable political bull shit that his professers pump in to his head. its very sad and scary to think about what teachers try to do to our kids minds. this kid gets me so frigging mad i want to punch his lights out.  last conversation i had with him was about god and religon. he said there is no god science has taught me this.  lol i was mad as hell. i told the kid that there was a god and i could prove it. he asked how? i said kid god is the only thing that is keeping me from kicking your ass right now. nuff said

I see it everyday.  I'm a HS teacher as well and my colleagues are constantly enforcing their personal agendas on the students under the guise of being facts.  They are allowed to spew forth their filth without repercussion and if I were to voice my personal views (since they differ) I'd be tarred and feathered.

Rick, it sounds like you were about to show that young'n what "old man strength" was about.

Perhaps a generalized letter could be sent to the principal indicating that you witnessed offensive partisan political material posted in plain view in a classroom.

Suggest that not only should such offensive material be removed from childrens' view, but that the staff be "sensitized" or reminded of their obligation not to push their religious and political views on children.

Demand that the school be a "gun-propaganda-free zone"  and indicate that you will be checkng for enforceament of a neutrality policy.

It is time we learn from the ultra left and use their own arguments against them where reason & logic fail.

I like this.  Maybe the person needs a lesson in tolerance, diversity, and acceptance of others to treasure their Constitutional rights.

I also would be interested in knowing who that is. Not that I live aroudn there it is just interesting to see that at such a young age. When I was in HS a substitue teacher told us how her or her boyfriend (honestly dont remember which it was) had capped a guy that jumped on to the hood of his car and drove off. She then told how htey watched the news and saw an unknown shooting advertised later and laughed. I was like "um ok, weird." That is about as odd as it got.

I have seen this a lot lately, mostly in colleges. Many of the good professors with experience teaching actually start by saying "this is just my opinion" and I dont really have as much of a problem with that. Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to it as long as they listen to that of another after they have used a public trusted possition to voice theirs. However, a lot of the newer teachers think it is just an excuse to preach. This is common among the crackerjack teachers that VCU is now getting. They are importing these people that have no professional background or even experience to teach something they know nothing about. I have had two seperate instances where they totally teach the VA court system WRONG. Important stuff like general district courts NOT havign a jury or always having an automatic right to an apeal.

One guy in one of my classes last semester was constantly ridiculed and called only by "marine" in a class that I wasnt in with him. He said she would preach her political views and when he asked her not to teach her views on him and teach the class she started yelling and told him he would listen and she was right. He proceeded to exit the class and not say anything. His next trip should have been to the deans office which it would have been had it not ended up being to the sandbox.

On another note I had another instructor with a very good professional background that always listened to everyone's opinion. He went out of his way not to interject his and if he did he made a disclaimer before hand. This is a good thing to do and allow people to make their own opinions.

Honestly, that's the tack that I take.  The kids try to bait me since I think they suspect that my beliefs swing a bit differently from their other teachers.  I always make sure I ask, "Are you asking my opinion?" and draw a clear line that what I'm saying is based on my best knowledge and understanding but that others may have a different read on the subject.  They almost always say thank you for not brow beating them and putting opinion over as fact.

Oh yes students will bait you for those type of answers even at a young age. I have baited a few in my time so that they ramble on and we didnt have to do work.

I can't resist this one.

So that made you a master baiter when you were in high school?

After hearing about a sermin that a VCU forensic science professor gave her class tonight about how carrying on campus is a crime. She also told them that they were trying to make it legal and it shouldnt be. She told them that she didnt feel comfortable giving grades to people that could be carrying guns.

The response to that is that teachers don't give grades, students earn them.

As for the guns on campus rule, if the universities want to ban them, then they can stop accepting public taxpayer funds from the Commonwealth and become private institutions.

YEh that could never happen. They are too short on funds now. They went and built too many buildings and bought to much expensive stuff to try and attract students that it is no way they could give that up now. That and they whole school is regulated by the virginia administrative code just like any other portion of the state government. They couldnt give it up if they wanted too. Even so, VCU is way beyond just state funded it is also run by the state as much as DCJS, the capital building, state park, or any other thing like that. They arnt special.

If she doesnt want to deal with students with guns she needs to move to a Suni school in NY state or something.
