My water softener took a dump and needs replacing. I need a softener and neutralizer. I was quoted $3300 installed. Anyone have a guy or recommendation on a unit in the Fredericksburg area?

We use a Culligan system, it was about $1100 installed about 4 years ago.

They have a location in Fredericksburg.

I have a Rainsoft that came with the house 20 years ago. The lifetime warranty transferred to us. Upgraded control head couple of years ago. I know they are more expensive, but the customer service has been great.

Are you on groundwater or municipal surface water? Do you know the total hardness? Unless the water is extremely hard or you are doing some "industrial process" so much money is wasted on this treatment. Decades ago some small water systems in NOVA had very hard water sources, but these so much has been replaced with surface water which is less hard or not hard at all. Thus there are some business that have over promoted the service b/c they formed when there was a greater need.

I have water that is 150-200 ppm total hardness for normal use it poses no problem. Over softening your water can lead to metal (water becomes much more corrosive) leaching and increased sodium intake. Softeners not working or being maintained properly can also create bio&chemical anomolies.
