Going to the High here in a few hours, and I'll likely be up there until late. Is carrying at the High good to go? Any metal detectors or anything. I didn't see anything on their website about no guns or anything.

Thanks guys!

I was there recently and don’t remember any metal detectors.  But I was not CCW so I was not really looking.  Also I know they did look in bags like purses but it think that was it.  This is all just to the best i can remeber, dont hold me to it.

Thanks a lot. I was wondering if I'd be able to get a response in the middle of a nice Saturday. Apparently so.

Make sure you post an AAR.

I've heard from a reliable source that you're good to go at the Zoo and Cyclorama.

Good to know.

When you stroll through the Louvre exhibit or the 14th-18th Cent European art exhibit, it makes you realize how pathetic some of the stuff that's considered art is today –– even some of the contemporary stuff there at the High. They just don't do it like they used to.

The Terra Cotta army stuff was cool. Obviously not as cool as it'd be to go to China and see them, but cool nonetheless.

Anyway, it was no big deal. No checkers, no metal detectors, no signs, no BS. I'm not sure that I'd try to OC there just to avoid the hassle, but in my i'm-not-a-lawyer-and-this-is-not-legal-advice opinion, you're good to go at the High.

Don't forget to visit the Tut Exhibit as well before it departs the Atlanta Civic Center. It's just down the street from the High.

Yup. My wife's been on me to get to the Tut exhibit before it leaves. We will.

Thanks for the update.  I couldn’t remember if it was OK to CCW there.  Glad to get a real idea.

The Army was cool but I think I actually enjoyed the art more.  I was almost a little mesmerized by a few of them.  I know that sounds a little goofy but it is true.  I have been to a lot of the museums in Europe so the exhibit at the High felt really small.  But it is excellent all the same.

No Metal detectors at the Tut exhibit, but they do have armed private security guards.  Haven't seen that in a long, long time.  It's in a gov't owned building.  Cool exhibit.  The wooden artifacts really blew me away.
