I rented in the Georgetown Town houses right behind him for about 4 years. He's a nice guy but he really only sells to cops and maybe military. Doesn't do transfers.

Check out Village Sports in Arlington Heights. Eddie in there will do transfers, believe the fee is $35. He usually has deals on used guns in there too.

Well dad went to thin blue line and he said the was a older guy there ( my dads 63) but he knew nothing about out of state transfers. bummer

Now is where im getting confused. He went out to GAT guns and was told he don't need a FFL for the transfer since its a boarder state

I pretty much clear on my NFA laws but now I'm getting lost on this

Your Dad got some very bad advice (or misunderstood).  You need an FFL.  Really.

I'm sorry I can't recommend an FFL near you.  The folks I use are a couple of hours from there (Winthrop area), but they're $20 absolutely no BS transfers.

There was an FFL that people were using here that was $20.

Here it is:
http://www.elgintransfer.com/

$20 for 1st transfer $5 for each additional.

Check out this thread here:

I have never used this guy and this info was from April of 2009
