Can I ask some of our experienced AK shooters to take a look at a topic I inquired about in the AK-47 forum.
Is This (picture) Normal?
Thanks.

I'm going to guess that the bullet guide is shaving pieces of the bullet jacket off during feeding. First thing I'd try is a different magazine. If its still occuring with different mags polishing the edge of the bullet guide should fix it if it bothers you. I highly doubt that it will have any negative effect on the performance of the gun though so I personally wouldnt worry too much about it.

Thanks, mak0.

I agree.  I did not even consider that this stuff could have been coming out the chamber (feeling a little silly right now).  I just assumed that my initial dry patch had cleared any debris and assumed these were fouling coming off the bore as I wet-brushed.  And that is why I thought such a large amount of copper was frightening.

The stupid plastic POS 5-round mag that came with the rifle is going on the shelf as soon as my metal mags get here.  I am also going to add a couple chamber brushes to my next CTD order.  I’ll give it another 3 or 4 trips to the range to work itself out.  If it does not get better or go away, I’ll post an update.

Thanks again for your advice.  I am feeling much better about it now.
