Aaron Carson Vaughn was killed in the crash a few days ago. He was from Troy, TN just right down the road from me. A true American hero that went out going forward to help some Army Rangers that were pinned down. I notice that he had Molon Labe tattooed on his left forearm, had on a UT cap in one of his pics, and in another forum that I'm a member of, his cousin said that he was without a doubt a Christian. Thank God that we still have men like this.Guys please pray for his family and the families of the other men lost in the crash.

I am proud to know that my corner of America is still capable of rearing men of that caliber, however rare they are.

I agree, i am from UC myself, Grad 2001 OCCHS.

My best friend is a spook (CIA) that was deployed last year with arron and his crew from VA beach , small world when i am from small town troy TN and later in life become friends with a spook that was deeply inbeded with those guys and didnt even know we knew the same guy.

Any news of a memorial or anything for arron in the UC area? if there isnt any plans there should be!

i heard this song while drinking a few cold ones the other night, reminded me of arron and his crew. I am at my work computer so i cant get you guys a clickly link but its well worth the time to copy and paste.

i am a former marine 6113 and currently work for sikorsky, so i am may be alittle bias towards the Ch53E but i really wished those guys where in a big iron VS the shit-hook..... the big iron has taken hits like that before and made it back home... RIP all those american bad asses.

I asked my mom about this because she is from Troy, so is my dad, and she said that she and my dad went to school with Vaughn's parents all the way from when they were little kids

God bless our Military Personnel, especially the Hometown folks. This is what makes me proud of the HTF, knowing that during the difficult times we can grieve together, while simultaneously admiring these men & women that risk their lives in order to serve something greater than themselves. I have been in Brussels, BE the past few weeks on work assignment. If you want a glimpse of what it looks like to not have the freedoms our Military men & women provide at great personal sacrifice, ones that we so often take for granted, come visit here.  Whatever appreciation I had before has become much greater.

Thank you Aimless.

Some additional sad news, that upon the release of the names of those KIA, I noticed a familiar one and believe it may be the son of a family friend based on the additional information I read yesterday.  I put a call in to "home" to see if I can confirm.

Looks like he will be laid to rest at Arlington, link to Patriot Guard Riders:

If you ride a motorcycle and are unfamilar with the PGR, please consider joining. I ride when I can and cannot find enough praise for them. A special bunch is the group around Washington D.C. who is able to have someone at every funeral at Arlington.

Went to eat in Union City tonight for my sister's birthday, and on the way through Troy, it was pretty obvious that they held his memorial service at OCCHS. The place was packed and they had 2 fire engines with a big American flag draped between them. It's great to live in a place that supports their fallen heroes the way they do.

Hank, thanks for cleaning this thread up and putting the attention back on the one that earned and deserved it.
