Is there any limit on long gun purchuses within certain time periods. For example, I bought an AR about two months ago and now want to buy a FN Shotgun and a Pre-ban lower. I actually live in the city but have all
except my service firearm in my house upstate. Since I buy them on my licence (which states NYC) will they be knocking on my door saying "wheres that EVIL AR? "

Thanks!!

Riese

No limit that I know of and as long as you  don't have them in your place in the city who cares?

Just one serious question though? You refered to a weapon as you "service firearm" what exactly is that? If it is a pistol how did you get the permit for that, I heard it is next to hell freezing over to get one.

I've been waiting almost a year for a NYC business use amendment on my state permit

Thanks. Any law abiding citizen without a questionable past can get a premise/target license. It just takes a lot of time and money. Me personally, I'm a LEO.

Outside of NYC (unless you are buying from a NYC dealer and are a NYC resident) there is no limit in NYS on long gun transfers. Outside of NYC there is no rifle/shotgun registration and no one is going to knock on your door as there is no record of your purchase except for the dealer's 4473 which is retained by him.

Thank you sir. How about during the background check for the long gun? These are not maintained by the BATF??

Thanks,

Riese

I regularly keep all sorts of AWs outside of NYC.  NYC's jurisdiction for possession offenses stops at the border and does not carry over into the rest of the state.

In NYS all NICS checks go through the FBI and are destroyed within 24 hrs. In any case the NICS system does not know the make/model or SN of any firearm you are transferring. If you transfer more then one handgun in a five day period from the same dealer he is required to submit a multiple handgun transfer report to the BATFE.
