Missouri: Development of a New Cass County Shooting Range

being Threatened!

The Cass County Commission is threatening to prevent the opening of a brand new shooting range that will serve the public and local law enforcement agencies.

An NRA firearms instructor recently purchased land to build a 600 yard shooting range, after the county commission informed the developer that there was no need for a special use permit to develop the land. The county apparently has changed its mind, however, and is now demanding a special use permit before the shooting range can be developed at a cost of $1,400. The county commission has cited other considerations for denying the use of the land, such as "much needed” protection for rattle snakes.

The Commission will meet this Wednesday, October 5 at 9:00a.m., at the historic courthouse at 102 East Wall Street in Harrisonville. Please consider attending this meeting to show your support for the development of this shooting range!

Please contact members of the Cass County Commission before this meeting to send a clear message of support for this shooting range! To contact each of the commissioners, please click here.
