Directions to the range from the Turnpike. If you need directions from somewhere else, post here and someone will definitely provide.
I know they are long but, I was very descriptive with them. The whole trip is really very simple. •Take NJ Turnpike to Exit 7 •After paying toll, take Rt. 206 South •After a short distance, make a LEFT onto Rt. 68. This is a very well marked intersection with signs for Fort Dix. Also, you can only turn left or go straight at this light, there is no right turn. Rt. 68 is larger highway divided in the middle by a grass median. •After several miles, you will turn LEFT onto Rt. 537/Monmouth Rd. If you go too far, you will run into the entrance to Ft Dix and the MPs will tell you so. Just turn around and go back a couple of roads. •After a couple of miles, you will come to an intersection with a WAWA on the far left corner, a diner on the far right corner, a motel on the near left and a gas station on the near right. The WAWA is a good landmark and the last/best place to stop for supplies before getting to the range… Continue straight through the light and on 537. •A couple of miles past the WAWA you will go through a traffic light. Soon after that you will pass a farm market on your left (with the farm on both sides of the road) and then come to a flashing yellow light. Turn RIGHT at the flashing light onto Jacobstown Cookstown Rd. Note – one of the signs on the corner only says Jacobstown Rd but, that’s the one you want. Just look for the flashing yellow light; that is the best landmark. •Follow this road to the end, it is a couple of miles. When you get to the end/stop sign, turn RIGHT onto the little main street of Cookstown. I do not believe there are any street signs here. •Once you go through town you will pass a farm field and then cross over onto the military reservation. (Ft Dix) There is one little white sign that you might miss but, as soon as the field ends and the woods begin, you are on base. Continue straight, this is now Range Rd. You will pass some Bivouac sites on the right and a range or two on the left and the ‘urban’ range on the right. Look for ‘Messina Range’ on your left and the urban/MOUT looking range on your right (they are directly across from each other). These are good landmarks and Range 14 is the next left up the road. You will see a small brown sign on the left that says ‘Ft Dix Rod & Gun Club – Range 14’. Turn LEFT here. •Go down the short road and cross the tank trail and go through the gate. (you will see the red ‘range hot’ flag flying) Go straight down the long ‘driveway’. You will pass the skeet/trap range on your left, the small archery courses on your right and will eventually come to the rifle range. (You have to turn left) •We generally have two or three tables all the way down on the right side of the firing line. (These would be the first two you will see when you pull in) Look for a black F-150 parked on the line. You can pull right up to the line to unload. |

Good News. I can make it to this one. I thought that we were going to try for a camping trip like you guys had last time. Either way,me and the new Mrs. will be there! DW(Mike) |
Since some of the crew plans on camping down at the VA shoot soon after this one, I decided to push the camping trip to end of Sep... |
Cool. It's better camping weather that time of year anyway!!! I have full faith in your organizational skills. You really do put on quite a gig! DW |
what's teh deal with bringing rifles fro mNY to NJ for the shoot? I am applying today or tomor for my NJ FID, so mebbe itll be ready by then, probably not.
I belive the only thing you do is no 30 round mags, unless they've got dowels or whatever in them to block em at 15. That is all. Atleast that's what I was told with regards to attending an action rifle match in NJ. |
I bring my ar's and my pistols. No high cap mags over 15 rounds. Use a bic pen to block them if you need. According to NJSP, i'll dig up the site, says you can transport and shoot in NJ Range. Just need to transport with locked cases and ammo in different case. |
you fucking anti-semites
why are all the good shoots on saturdays. I'd come in a sec - heck I even spent an hour modding my magazines - but you made it on my sabbath. Jesus!!!!! :-) |
Um.....does anybody else see the humor in that particular juxtaposition? Chapper, can't you go to Friday Night Schul like Catholics go to Saturday night Mass? |
Don't worry about it. We believe in the , why do you think we have so many evil black rifles. |
"does anybody else see the humor in that particular juxtaposition? " I thought it was obvious enough for us all to get!
Anyhow, you still suck. |
Sabbath Schmabbath. Get your ass to the shoot. |
what is with you missionary heathens trying to get me to desecrate the holy day...... What did I, kill your god or something?
It's because YOU bastards make us do shit on sundays!!! (In my case, it's usually my shooting buddys fiance's fault) |
all I know is that till I move to NJ, I will STILL be at calverton every non-rain sunday skeet shooting away. Then it looks like Fort Dix for me. I don't feel like getting a NJ pistol licenses, building a collection, and THEN getting a NY license just to shoot there. Too much hassle.
On a lighter note, I got some used Orlites for next to nothing with the intent of converting them to NJ mags. I thought long and I thought hard my friends... then I drilled a hole where the follower rests with fifteen rounds in it, and put a screw in the side to limit it to 15 rounds. Real tough job. :-) |
If we invite a female member of the IDF to one of our SATURDAY SHOOTS, you'll be down here in a SEC. Sorry we shoot on your Sabbath, I wish I could change it for you, But I do not dare mess with the BLACK RIFLE GODS. |
female IDF ...... they don't call tehm mattresses for nothing.
There have been nice pics coming out of the general forum about the IDF girls. |
Heh, I'd pay for their hotel rooms for the weekend if some IDF ladies wanted to join us!
Earth to chapperjoe Seton Hall is a Catholic school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, if you get the urge to shoot handguns at Dix just let us know what you want. Between the attendees at the NJ shoots we have a large sample of what’s available. Mike |
