Moving from New Germany Jersey to FL & have questions. I'll be moving to the Tampa area if that matters.

The first thing Im going to do is get a permit to carry my Sig226 40 but need to know how to do this. In NJ no one is allowed to have a carrie permit unless you politically connected.

Next, is a silencer for the AR, M1A, and Para FAL. So, I need to know how to do this too. I will also need to research silencers because I dont really know about them. Which are better, wet or dry cans ...?

Other plans are to pick up an AUG, 50cal and maybe a FA open bolt subgun, but thats later!

In a nut shell, you have to have proof of firearms training. It can be an NRA course, or a course taught by a NRA instructor. A DD-214 also applies or you can take the free Florida Hunter Education class. Make a copy of your proof of training, fill out the application package, include fingerprint card and photograph. Mail it in with a M/O for $158 IIRC. and wait about 45 days. You'll get a CWP with your pic, looks alot like a DL and you are good for 5 years. You can order the free aplication packet on line. Check the thread on this forum more more detailed instructions. I think you have to be a resident for a certain number of days.

As for the NFA stuff, best thing to do is form a revocable living trust. This will negate the need for a CLEO signature, photos & prints. You can buy all the NFA you can afford. Very few folks use dedicated wet cans. You can take almost any dry can & use it wet, not recommended on aluminum cans though.

There is a big MG shoot 3 times a year at the Hernando Sprotsmans Club on US 19 just north of Hudson, FL which is just a little north of Tampa.

While your at it, pick up a switchbalde as well. Might as well feel the freedom of being unshackeled.

Make sure you register to vote when you get here and keep the people in office that make this a gun-friendly state unlike that toilet you're moving from.

(I lived in Ocean City for a couple years )
