I live in Roswell, and relocated here just shy of two years ago. Considering where I came from, (Suburbs of Philadelphia)
It's my new home and I'm quite comfortable here. It's certainly not the home of drive-by shootings, like any town it's
got it's good and bad side. Suggestion...stay North of 2nd street, Historic district. Surrounded by business's all day
it's quite busy, after 6:00 PM it evolves into quiet town.
'Course my opinions gonna vary from a long term resident. They're accustomed to this lifestyle and my not appreciate
the open space. I can however tell you, within walking distance I can have all the fast food I wish, take in a movie,
shop at the local mall, pick-up a prescription at Wallgreens.
In the same essence give me 20 minutes, I can become remote and totally alone. Short on words, for me it's pure
paradise. Reminded that I live alone and bare with the least of essentials, my electric runs 'bout 25-35 a month.
Water and sewage along with refuse pick-up 'round 35, gas 'round another 25. My homeowners is roughly 700 per year.
I'd highly suggest you pay a visit before making a commitment. FWIW, the Mayo Motel on Second St. has a
weekly rate of 125 and has a microwave and small fridge. I'm not certain...I believe the pool is open.
Excuse me as I'm attempting to cover as much ground as possible. The NMMI appears to be taken well care
of. I live only a few blocks away, I'd imagine you'd be comfortable there.
Housing...not sure what to tell ya, doesn't appear to be much for sale. Heck, I'm kicking myself in the behind
for not buying the 10 acres that I found and planting a modular home on it. Water was on site but no septic.
Town is growing by leaps and bounds, not housing but bushiness. For 125-150 you could make a nice home
for your family, a place you can actually retire into. With a secured job you'd be fine.
My realtor has retired, at nearly 80 can't blame her. She did look out for my best interests tho'.
Another reminder, if you're gonna be landing in Albuquerque and traveling by car fuel up as often as possible
and carry PLENTY of water.
Good luck, and if I can help you in anyway don't hesitate.
