You just received a raise, courtesy of the state.
The withholding rate for state disability insurance has racketed downward from 1.08 percent to 0.8 percent, levied on up to $79,418 in taxable income. This change means a savings of $222.37 this year. Why the change? The state’s goal is to keep the disability fund balance equal to 25 percent to 50 percent of the previous year’s disbursements, which go to employees who cannot work because of non-job-related illness, injury or pregnancy.
