I don't like to kill them so I usually get them in a live trap and take them to Chehalis and drop them off.  Much more humane.

My dad is having a heck of a time trying to stop the moles at his place. They are terrible this year.

I pour gas (some times mix in some oil) down the fresh holes and lite them up and then cover with cans or buckets. They seem to go away very fast.

I had read for years that traps were the only real sucessful way to get the moles, and I used them for several years sucessfully.

Then when I moved, a new neighbor said that she had gotten over a dozen in the last two months by sticking a garden hose down a hole uphill from the digging mole.  They pop up out of the hole and she wacks them on the head with a shove.  Problem solved.  I tried it and it worked for me too.

What method are you using for getting the fury little guys?

THose gopher gas bombs you can get at Home Depot seem to work quite well, but I'll try the water hose trick as well.

Traps have always been the most stisfying for me.  The trouble is I have so many moles and only 6 traps that I can't keep up.  SOOOOOooooo?  Cenex carries "Mole Patrol"  looks like tan colored rabbit pellets with an anticogulant as in rat poison.  My neighbor swears by it.  I'm on my second jug and the little stinkers are still around but we'll see.  Big yard.  ms

I work at a golf course in Seattle.  We have tons of moles and we are always trying to rid ourselves of them.

Last year we had a guy working with us that trapped 15 of them in about a month.

He was awesome.  I'd sign him up for mole patrol on the duty board each day.

This year we have tons of moles, but no MoleMan.

We've only caught a few so far.

I've tried gasing them, smoking them, and poisoning them.

I can't tell if I have that many, or if I just can't kill the ones I have.

If you have the time and patience, a shotgun works fine. I stand about 10-15' back from the hole, and wait for them to push up.....aim at the base of the dirt mound.

I seem to have won this years battle last week.... no new mounds since.

The trick is setting your coffee cup down and taking the safety off without spooking them. Stomp the mounds down, and go back in the house, check frequently through the window for fresh hills. When you see one, fill your coffee cup up and sneak out there with the shotgun....soft on the steps. Before you finish your coffee, you'll usually get some activity.

I've tried it before without the coffee, but I get skunked nearly everytime I skip that step.

A 22 lr works pretty good too.

The most effective thing I've seen for getting rid of moles and gophers is a momma cat. The neighbors had a momma cat that would pull a mole or gopher, bigger than she was,  out of the ground every other day. Took care of the whole neighborhood. 'Course, then we were over run by kittens but they're at least cute.

1GR, three words for ya, and I believe I'm quoteing you...

Hard

Core

Short n sweet, you know, I really do like the way you're thinking..... however....

We had a rat terrier for a bit, (you know, the dogs who chase and kill little critters?) who literally tore the living shit out of my yard looking for those g'damn moles. I swear, he's lucky I didn't have any coffee made! He gave them hell on the pursuit, but between him and the moles, my yard looked like Mick Jaggers face underneath a magnifying glass!

I used blackberry briars, I heard it on the Ed Hume show. You run the briars down the tunnels, 3-4 foot pieces, and I did it all around the yard, I havent had a mole in 4-5 years. He said that a mole was a bleeder and the stickers made them bleed out.

But sitting on the back porch, after splitting fire wood and sipping  some Jim Beam, watching a mole pushing up, then  bludgening him with a splitting maul was fun.

That's the good thing about the cat, she didn't dig, she just sat by the hole and pounced when the mole came within reach.h=85%

We were relatively mole free untill a week or two ago.  Gassed holes yesterday and a few more that appeared this morning.

We'll see what happens.

I have been fighting one stubborn mole for a week or so. He made a nest right at front of my porch. Flooding out did not work. Spent two days running water into holes with nothing to show for it. Tried the Juicy Fruit gum trick. I heard about it couple of times. Put a stick or two of that gum into every hole I could find. Have not seen one new hole for four days now.

This is my Home Made Mole trap it takes one 12gauge shotgun shell.

If someone local needs it to combat moles I'll put it up in the EE.

- tried mole gas.........moles just blocked tunnel w/ dirt

- ultra-sonic noise maker- worked for about 10-15 feet area....i'd need like 40 of em, so returned   it to store (for money better spent on ammo).

- chewing gum...... mighta freshened his breath, but otherwise uneffective.

- put urine in hole.......just got strange looks from the nabor, even though it was her idea

- wife on PMS w/ a pitch fork............ WORKS GREAT!   just squish mounds down, check occasionally for mounds to come back/dirt to move, and stab away.
