I Just saw a YouTube vide featuring the Griffin Checkmate and realized I no longer need to search for the perfect Ruger MK2 preban pistol so I (as a lowly common citizen) can work around the threaded barrel law. I can get a new MK3, pin the QD tri lug adapter and do the same on my 10/22 and be good to go! Why diddnt I realize this sooner?

I thought we could still buy threaded barrel rimfire handguns and also thread rimfire rifles...between this thread and the other one below you, either I'm missing something or what..

There isn't a threaded barrel law, there's a feature law. On rimfire rifles you get 1 feature.

Which is why when I saw this several months ago I went out and bought a 10/22 takedown threaded. Now for that stamp...

Awe man I just duped in my own HTF I didn't see the other thread before i got excited by the YouTube vid. I am aware threaded rimfire rifle is GTG but threaded pistols are not.

Wow, that thing is sweet. Is it against the law though to thread a barrel even if you're going to pin the adapter on?

I would say if it is pinned it is good to go. Once pinned and welded it is a permanent part of the barrel much like doing it to make legal length.

The intent is to abide by the law, so you'd be fine

I have one of these on order just because I like the QD feature (and it gets good reviews). I have a number of .22s I want to use it for, even a tube fed Marlin!

One would think that pinning the tri-lug to the barrel would negate the threads, just like pinning on a muzzle break does for a center fire rifle. However, I just have to wonder what the state would view it, since it is being used to attach a silencer to the barrel, something the AWB is trying to prevent.

Agreed. I believe in pushing back against the Communists who run this state whenever I can. However, I would prefer not to have my life turned upside down by something as small as a threaded barrel with a tri-lug pinned on it.

pinning a tri lug is the same as us pinning a brake on ARs for years

Yes, but with pinning on a muzzle break, you disable the threads on the end of the barrel, and wind up with a non-banned break. By pinning a tri-lug on, you may be disabling the threads, buy you wind up a method to attach a suppressor to the end of a barrel, something that the ban on the threads is supposed to prevent.

But all this is just conjecture on our part. The only opinions that matter are the prosecutor, judge, and jury at the trial!

Not that this would necessarily apply to your situation, but...........

During the '94 ban, I had a Mini I wanted to put a flash suppressor on. Threading the barrel would have brought it over the evil feature count. So I asked the 'smith if he could ream the flash hider to a couple thousanths LESS than the barrel diameter and shrink-fit them together. Didn't seem like it was in violation of the letter of the law, so he did it.

But it'll take a grinder to get that sumbitch off now, I think.
