Wisconsin: Milwaukee Mayor Calls for the Repeal of Statewide Preemption

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Please Contact the Mayor Today!

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D) has again renewed his calls for repealing statewide preemption in Wisconsin so that the city can enact stricter, more outrageous gun control laws. Wisconsin passed its preemption statute in 1995 to prevent local municipalities from passing their own gun control laws.

The creation of new laws would do little, if anything, to prevent violent crime and would make it difficult to keep track of a multitude of different laws across the state.

Please contact Mayor Barrett TODAY and respectfully let him know you oppose this attack on our Second Amendment rights. The Mayor can be reached by phone at (414) 286-2200 or email mayor@milwaukee.gov.

How about the mayor of Milwaukee start doing something about the drug and gang problems first instead of trying to lay blame on an inanimate object. If he cant run Milwaukee, maybe he should step down.

It is all about control and the illusion of control. He is doing an inadequate job of controlling gang and drug activity so he wishes to give the illusion of doing "something" by controlling the gun ownership of honest reasonable responsible citizens....

I just sent him an email.

Everyone should do it or even give him a call.

The funny thing here is the kid (18) illeagally had the gun... how will more gun laws make a difference?

Criminal thinking to self:
18-hand gun illeagal
new hand gun law banning hand guns - double illeagal
rats... I only wanted to break 1 law today, guess I will have to settle for something else...

Don't these crooked politicans think? Did breaking more than one law ever stop anyone? Just enforce the laws we have and it will work.

If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail....
These useless assholes are 1 trick ponys. Their only solution they can offer the public is firearms legislation. They (Chief and Mayor) are inept and more of a liability to the city than assets.

The socialists of this state are elected by the sheeple of this state in concert with union labor year after year.

Everybody votes their back pocket.

Only when the country really tanks and the benefits stop will sheeple begin to get a clue.

Buckle up folks.

It's going to get ugly.

This is the email I sent. We have to be respectful and courteous and willing to discuss face to face or we you never be taken seriously.

Dear Mayor Barrett;

It is my view that you may be wrong on your opinion that we need our government to make a new law every time that some thing goes wrong in our world. I believe that if we just enforce the current firearm laws that we have in place without plea bargaining or early release, that it would be a better deterrent than more regulation.

Again, this is just my opinion and I would be happy to discuss it with you.
