I saw it when I got into town last Friday. It seems out of place next to the other warbirds that are there.

Is it the real deal or some sort of chopjob?

Cool! I wonder if it is back at APG? I might have to stroll on over there and peek inside...

Sweet. A guy at the airport in MN I spent a lot of time at had one (as well as an L-29 and -39). One day he takes off, circles the field once or twice, lands, taxis back, shuts down, slides canopy back and says "Well, there goes 500 bucks." They're apparently very thirsty little things.

Yes, that is a 17, and it is still there. My company did avionics upgrade in the aircraft, but with the owner traveling so much, they couldn't get a ferry pilot organized, and the plane ran out of annual.
If you want to see it, come by this week.  Supposedly they are planning for a ferry permit this week and taking it to Fort Lauderdale. I think it is the only MIG 17 with a Garmin touch screen avionics in it

It's gone. Left on a ferry permit last Saturday around 1400hrs for Fort Lauderdale. Uneventful flight, no issues.

It runs on money. You shovel it into the money hole in the front, and it gives you a short hour of edge-of-your-seat fun.
