I asked the counter guys if they had considered opening those mega packs and selling the individual boxes inside 1 per customer to ensure more people got hold of some vs. the neckbeards. They said they had considered it but when they opened one of those packs they discovered the 50-rd boxes were plain white cardboard and not retail packaging.
Quite frankly I'm becoming of the opinion that these "retail reports" are pretty worthless because the product in question is usually sold out by the time they're posted. That, or the price is so high it's not worth buying. And reloading components? Forget it. Ain't happening. |

Here's the Summerville report:
PSA - the ammo situation is a bit better here than Fernandina. They have a large pallet TulAmmo 7.62 x 39 (9.99/20) 9mm ($30/50) 223 Rem ($15.50) 7.62 x 54R (didn't see the price) They have the same Eastern Eurotrash 9mm FMJ ($40/50) There's 10mm, a tiny bit of .380 (2 boxes of 100rd Fiocchi for $50/box), and a smattering of some rifle stuff. Limits are one box per caliber per person per day. ATP - Actually had a lot of ammo but some of the handgun calibers were only available in JHP. The prices on defense stuff was not particularly horrible. They had 300AAC, too. Their purchase limits are strict and in some cases (5.7) you have to buy a gun and even then the limit is one box. Overall the prices on ammo esp. 9mm were on par with PSA or in some cases a bit less but again limits. |

But usually just a couple dollars higher than the local gun stores to a few dollars higher than WM/Academy. I try to support the local guy by going in a few times a week to pick up something, anything possible. Now I find myself just walking through looking for sales or discontinued items. |

Browning 9mm ammo. GONE. IN ONE DAY.
Went into Simpsons this morning at 7am to find an empty pallet behind the gun counter. Found myself getting somewhat snippy with the gun dept. mgr. as to how approx. 1K 50-rd boxes could have sold in less than one day one box per person because I have seen them hand off 3-4 boxes at time to other employees who don't work in that dept but it's a useless argument. It's sold out and if I want to get 3-4 boxes at a time maybe I should get a job there. I was going to pass that ammo along at cost to a fellow ARF member from Knoxville when he comes to visit next month. Oh, well. |

I went by sportsmans warehouse today and saw they have some bulk pack projectiles. 105gr .38 were $36, 125gr .38 $39, 115gr .356 were $45?, and i think (idk weight) .44 were $45 too.
I would have grabbed some of the .38 if I had dies for reloading them. I need a couple hundred .38 and .357mag for my first real wheelgun (S&W 686). Those seem like reasonable prices, considering no shipping cost and the current online pricing. I stopped by PSA heading home and they have lots of ammo in stock. Different brands, different calibers. Lots of 9mm. The lowest cost of 9mm was Tula which was $30/50. The lowest brass cased was $35/50. I didn’t see anyone grabbing them off the shelf. Prices are coming down. Let the supply keep building. *ETA* Gallant brand projectiles. If Highlights taught me anything, Gallant brand should be a superior product compared to Goofus brand. |

Simpsons has only seen one ammo shipment in the past 2 weeks (the 9mm JHP that sold out in a day). Was told that they have no expected shipments for the foreseeable future. They have held back some ammo for gun purchasers.
ETA: they did have a small amount of Browning 9mm FMJ for sale this morning 5/11/21 ($15.99/50 + tax limit 1 box) no doubt sold out by now As for firearms, while they have been able to restock the handguns (sorry, no Glocks) sales of such have slowed down considerably. It may very well be that discretionary income for such is running out. I also noticed they are now selling a variety of Alien Gear's "Shape-Shifter" holster packs ($99 + tax). They had them for G19, SD9/40VE, Shield, and perhaps a few other pistols. |

Stopped by Simpsons this morning and here's what they have for powder and at least some prices:
1 lb. containers: Pyrodex Titegroup ($25) Green Dot IMR 4895 Reloder 17 8 lb. Containers H4350 ($300) They have two of these Plus tax, of course. Limit on 1 lb. canisters is one of each type. I saw this powder put out this past Saturday morning and with the exception of maybe 4-5 lbs of Titegroup it's not selling. As far as common caliber reloading most of it is useless. Hodgdon is just sending out anything to fill orders and small accounts get the shit. |

PSA on Fernandina had a couple thousand CCI Large Pistol Primers as of ~6:15 PM today. I may have walked away with 500 at .08 per primer. Not bad for these trying times.
On another note, PSA had a bunch of Winchester unprimed 9mm brass, at least 4 boxes of .264 143gr ELD-X projectiles, a box of hornady interlock for .308 I believe. PSA also received their large assortment of AK-47s today. They have been instock online for awhile but they have finally made it into the stores! They had a decent assortment of ammo all of which was above .55 per round. Sportsmans off Piney Grove had some Winchester Unprimed 357 Sig brass, Lapua brass, and an assortment of projectiles. Academy off of Bower Parkway didn't have anything interesting. |
