I propose we have a middle TN hometown gathering.

Say at CHMR for a friendly meet and greet and shoot.

Any takers?

If this picks up traction I'll reach out to Charlie and see if we can be accommodated on the private range.

****UPDATE****

I spoke with Charlie and he is more than welcome to have us!

He said we would have to use the main range and we could just "occupy" a stretch of the line for our little "gathering" as he put it

With that in mind, he said the weekends are the busiest so the earlier we could start, the better chance we would have to use an area on the line.

I propose the following:

Saturday - January 19th starting at 9:00 AM.
TIME HAS BEEN UPDATED TO ENSURE WE CAN Get spots on the line before the Saturday Crowd

If you are not a member, you will be my guest and it will cost $5.00

If you live remotely near this range, you will want to join once you shoot here so go on and bring your $60 membership dues

For those who have not shot at CHMR before, you can shoot strings of 3-4 in rapid succession, but I was told to remind everyone, please no mag dumps or bumpfiring.

The facilities are nice, target boards are provided as well as staplers.

You will need to bring paper targets and sporting clays for the berms.

Directions

The range is located at 2795 Owl Hollow Road, Franklin, TN 37064. Note that this address is the mailing address and not the parking area for the range (see highlighted area below). The CHMR parking area is 1.2 miles west of Lewisburg Pike, just around the sharp left bend in the road after you pass the point that your GPS indicates your arrival.

CHMR GPS coordinates N35° 45' 38.8146"  W86° 51' 27.8814"

I just moved back to Tennessee after living behind enemy lines in NY for the past three years, so put me down as a tentative yes for attendance! I am not sure what my school/work schedule will be since I am still getting settled in, but I am interested!

Me too. Count me as a definite maybe. I'm sure I could learn a thing or two from you guys to help improve my offhand shooting.

Interested, but I can rarely make definite plans too far in advance (work, family, and other forms of insanity).

Besides, if I actually showed up for something, people would know what I looked like.

Does anyone have a number for Charlie?

Can't find any contact info for the range, and it's closed by the time I get off work.

If not I'll figure something out.

50-50 either way, IMO. Many guys work on Sat, many guys do church on Sun. Pick your poison on which to meet on, IMO.

Thankfully my new job is now Mon-Fri............

Try to find a non-gun show weekend if possible.

As a newbie to the forum I'd be happy to come meet and shoot!

Now if all my new stuff will show up by mid Jan

I wanted to check out CHMR anyhow as it is close for me and the yearly membership is reasonable.

If we do it on Sat it would work better to maybe hit Twin Peaks afterward to tell lies.

So.

For all those who are not members, its a $60 year membership fee.

If you guys are all my guests its $5 a person.

I left charlie a message today and have yet to hear back from him.

Once I do, I'll update the thread.

I'm thinking either the weekend of the 12th or the 19th of January

I just Google-mapped the route from my house, and it's only 32 miles or so. Not that much further than Cheatham WMA and I'd be willing to bet that I wouldn't get shot at while hanging targets, either.

Well, it's not 100% guaranteed...I've been downrange there & had rounds fired behind me...It's why I NEVER go downrange w/out a sidearm.

It's gotten better.

Charlie and his crew police pretty hard during cold ranges now, even more so with the influx of new shooters.

Dangnabbit!,
Can't make it due to my Jerry Springer show worthy sister and family obligations. I have to drive my nephew to Indy to see his dad that day. I was really looking forward to meeting some of you fellers and seeing CHMR again. I let my membership lapse and haven't been there in a little more than a year. I hear that Charlie has made several improvements since then. Maybe next time. A quarterly gathering wouldn't be a bad thing.

Not to hijack a thread or anything.
Yea, opsec & stuff, but I'll try to bring her along to a future gathering. I don't see it, but I've been told she's quite fetching for a 40 year old woman. Not dumb either. Masters from Vandy. I'll put in a good word for you. I'd love to see her with ANY Arfcommer rather than that last loser she had (damn attorneys).

On a downer note:
I still plan on attending and meeting everyone but at this point I have no AR.
I was caught in the Dick's debacle so no Troy rifle for me.
I'll be searching in the meantime but I will not pay 2k for a 1k rifle.

On the up side everyone will get to see my new MKA1919 shotgun.

If anyone has a line on a 6920 or a Sig M400 or something like that let me know I'll drive a bit to get it.

Me, too..

"The Hammer" costs me around $1 every time I pull the trigger nowadays. Of course, the ammo cost me a lot less than that when I bought several cases at Knob Creek many years ago, too. I'm thinking of bringing 150-200rds max., plus some 12 gauge and .22LR.

I've updated the list of those attending

Any objections to meet at 9:00? I'm going to get there early (8:30)  to make sure I get a lane.

eh....let's say 9:00 when they open so we can have the line to ourselves.

Will update in OP
